Yukon Rail and Bus Adventure

This adventure was great! The scenery was unreal. The crew on the train were great and our guide was excellent.

The railway experience was spectacular and the bus adventure was remarkable. James Coleman MADE the trip. His stories and appreciation of the beauty and history of the land was incredible. The lunch at Carabou Crossing was great. The scenery was breath-taking and James told the best stories ever! James is the best. I can't imagine doing this excursion again without James Coleman!

This is a nice train ride and you can observe a lot of nature going thru the mountains. I found the excursion to be a little bit long. Our driver was nice . I think it is a must do.

Our bus driver was excellent and entertaining. The train ride was breathtaking but two stops to pick up hikers (first stop was over half and hour to wait for two hikers that were not at the stop) made it impossible for us to see Skagway as we needed to get back to our ship by a certain time.

We really enjoyed the train ride from Skagway. The veiws were spectacular. Then the bus ride was wonderful. The driver was informative and friendly. Our lunch was very good. We enjoyed our stops along the way and the beautiful fall colors in all their brilliance.

Great excursion. The train trip is not too long and the trip back is beautiful. Our driver had a very good grasp on the history of the Yukon and knew the best places to stop for pictures. Highly recommended.

the length and the stops on the coach trip were perfect, the driver was friendly and an expect explaining the area. The train is a must, the landscape is incredible Highly recommended

An amazing day & tour! We enjoyed perfect weather & an amazing tour guide & driver-James. He made sure we didn't miss the best sights in Alaska and the Yukon, while sharing amazing facts and stories. Our group @17 adults seemed to enjoy the train trip (from the last car) allowing us views of spectacular sights that could never be seen by car/bus. Meanwhile, James drove to the top of the mountains where we boarded his small bus, and we were treated to views of reflecting lakes, a desert, glaciers, snow-topped mountains, & even a close-up view of a baby bear. The trip included a delicious BBQ lunch & time to watch Iditarod sled dogs being exercised. We were able to pet sled dog puppies and visit the animal museum. At trip's end, James offered a town or ship drop-off. The tour sounds pricey, but is well worth the cost & is probably the best shore excursion tour I've ever booked. I highly recommend the experience. (Went in mid-Sept.-allowed us no crowds and a touch of Fall's beauty).

This excursion was by far our favorite! The weather turned out beautiful and we were able to clearly see all the sights. Our bus guide was very informative and we learned a lot of interesting history of the area and the Gold Rush. The bus ride portion was very comfortable. The lunch provided on our stop was quite good and our time spent there enjoyable. The train ride back provided a different view and new scenery. I am very glad we chose this excursion with the bus/train combo.

We cannot say enough good things about this adventure. This is the first adventure not directly booked with our cruise line. In the past, we were always concerned about returning to our ship timely. Morgan, who was in charge of our group was awesome. He was knowledgeable, timely, patiently answering everyone’s questions. The best of our four adventures.

I chose to this tour because it was broken up with a bus and a train component. I didn't want to be stuck on the other train tour for four hours, only to fall asleep. Our tour guide was friendly, informative, and funny. He made the journey very memorable. On the train ride, we were able to stand outside to view all of the mountain and water features. It was cool to be able to sit inside in comfort or stand outside with the fresh air.

This was my favourite excursion! Not only the scenery was spectacular, but the bus driver “Mike” was excellent with appropriate commendations and humour. The train allowed us to see so much more beauty and glaciers than the road. On the negative side, the college guides were NOT sophisticated enough for an otherwise awesome experience. Some maturity on their part would have increased our pleasure in listening to them.

My granddaughter and I both very much enjoyed the train trip and bus trip. We loved stopping at the small towns and settlements to visit the museum and shops and see the scenery. The historic information was very interesting and we learned a lot and had a great time. It was also nice to be back in Skagway early enough to roam around in their shops and left off towards the "back" of the town away from the jewelry stores.

Our tour guide was great. She knew tons about the area and her commentary was spot on and amusing when appropriate. She stopped often to give us plenty of "photo ops" and bathroom breaks. I was really impressed with her personality and knowledge of the history and 'colorful anecdotes. The ride back on the old timey train was fun. And the bottled water was MOST WELCOME on a hot day.

We did the bus tour first up to the Yukon. Ann was our guide and was fantastic! She provided excellent commentary throughout the trip, made sure to keep everyone safe during the road side stops, and checked in with the group frequently on comfort level of bus. We took the train from Fraser back to Skagway. Train ride was disappointing. We were on the "hill" side of the train and couldn't see much of the scenery. A family group filled the front of the train car for the entire trip so we were limited to trying to find a spot on the back of the car. Honestly the vistas were better on the bus portion of the tour.

I loved this tour. We were debating between a bus tour or a train tour and found this tour that did both. We saw so many beautiful sites on both. The bus was a mid size bus and the guide was so informative and nice. Honestly my favorite Alaska tour.

If you are looking at train trips out of Skagway, this is the tour to go on! You'll see a lot of Alaska and some remote areas of Canada. We took this day excursion as part of our cruise trip. Enjoyed the bus ride up there. Our guide Morgan taught us a lot about Alaska and the Yukon territory. A great storyteller and kept us entertained! We were amazed at how much knowledge he had about the area. He really made our trip! Everyone in our party liked the lunch.Train ride was beautiful, as well. My kids (ages 9, 13 & 15) enjoyed it. Highly recommend this tour! You will regret it, if you don't book it.

The guide put us on the train, which had written and oral descriptions of the trip. She met us at the end of the rail line and drove us up to the lower Yukon. She delivered a great commentary during the trip. Great personality. The vegetarian option for lunch could have been better. Wish we could have stayed longer in some places, but the day was packed. The best of our excursions.

Great day of learning, beautiful scenery, great experiences! Loved our guide Mike! informative and professional. Loved the intimate experience! Learned so much about the Klondike gold rush, glaciers, Carcross and Skagway. Stoped near beautiful waterfalls, lakes and cute towns. Bring a warm and wind proof jacket! Cold and windy up in the pass. Great BBQ chicken lunch with yummy homemade doughnuts for desserts. At our lunch stop we Got to do a dog mushing experience, pet the puppies, and visited an outstanding taxidermy museum with a woolly mammoth! Loved the train ride back to Skagway from Fraser Canada in the Yukon. We had the whole train car to our group, loved riding the historic train. Tip, go walk around Skagway early because most of the stores were closed by the time we came back after our 8 hour adventure. Be aware you start the day and spend more than half of the excursion on a mini bus. The train is your trip back to town. We highly recommend this experience.

The bus and rail trip was awesome. The rail trip was very informative. The train was clean and very comfortable. The rail guides were very informative. The bus portion of the excursion was awesome as well. Our guide was very knowledgeable and humorous about the area and it’s history. He was helpful in every manner possible. It was very obvious that he enjoyed his job.

Phenomenal! A must have experience in Skagway!

A young girl got sick on our tour, she needed medical attn asap. We were on our way back to Skagway and had no phone or radio reception. Jamison, our driver was great to drive quickly and keep his cool until we could contact authorities. We got a police escort and met paramedics in the canyon. The paramedics transported the girl and her parents to the clinic in Skagway. Jamison graciously offer to give them transportation back to their ship when they were finished at the clinic even if he had to do it on his own time. Not sure of the outcome but kuddos to Jamison for his compassion and professionalism!!

The rail trip was spectacular. The information was just right. The history was well told. Brian, our bus driver, was great. He loves his job and really shows it.

The bus driver was incredibly knowledgeable and funny. We saw lots of wildlife and stopped at great locations for photographs. The lunch was good. The train ride down the mountain was amazing. Hard to believe that the miners walked up that carrying a ton of supplies.

Fun trip for all ages. Second time in 5 years for us. Lots of fun. Beautiful scenery. Some scary thrills as you travel the narrow rails looking directly down a sharp cliff, going through a dark tunnel or traveling over an old wooden bridge. Knowledgeable, good- humored guides. Clean and well maintained train. Highly recommended! Watch for the elusive Sasquatch, Alligator and Armadillo.

Wow... what an adventure. It was a day well spent. The driver was very knowledgeable and shared many interesting life experiences. We even saw a real desert in the Yukon. Lunch was delicious. The landscape was beautiful. We enjoyed the train ride and saw historical, built by hand, bridges built to provide access to the gold mines.

We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this tour. The bus driver/tour guide, whose name unfortunately escapes me, was extremely knowledgeable and personable. We saw spectacular scenery in both Alaska and the Yukon. There were lots of excellent stops for photo ops, and plenty of rest stops. Lunch was fun, and we went on the dog sled ride, which was fun and informative. We have no hesitation in recommending this excursion.

The Yukon Railway and bus excursion was the highlight of our trip. We had a personable and pleasant tour guide who was very knowledgeable. His first name was Morgan. The scenery was quite incredible. We thoroughly enjoyed the excursion.

Our tour guide James was quite a storyteller (not surprising being he is from Ireland). When he picked us up at the border and he began telling us a story about his neighbor back in Arizona. We would stop and get off the bus. He picked the story up right where he left off. I didn't care too much for the BBQ.

This tour is a must! So educational and just a great time. We spent the whole day off the boat and did this tour and it was so worth it!

We had the best guild. From getting our own train coach to making sure we get enough picture. And knowing about the history just made our vacation amazing. We would do it again. Worth it!

Started with large van from dock area. Total of 12 on the tour. Our driver Morgan was fun, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable. The small group allowed for easy on/off at awesome photo spots. We went up into the Yukon on the van. Nice BBQ lunch in Carcross, Yukon. Van back to train, took train back to Skagway. Train fun, low clouds blocked views until near the end. Glad we had the van ride - got above the clouds on the way into the Yukon for beautiful views. Long day but worth it for all you get to see.

We had a really amazing day. The train journey was beautiful, up in the clouds one minute and then bright sunshine next. It really was an eclectic mix on scenery. Totally different to how we imagined. At Fraser Heidi picked us up and on to Carcross for lunch. This was a disappointment as I think it had benn kept warm for far too long, but it didn’t spoil anything. Heidi was excellent. She was very friendly and informative. Stopped at lots of view points and gave relevant information.

Although this was the most expensive tour we booked, we are so glad we did! Amazing train ride in the caboose which gave us great views out the back. The guide gave us great historic and cultural information. Once we got to Canada we changed to a small tour bus of 20 and continued into the Yukon. Our tour guide Jamison was fantastic and stopped at scenic spots so we could take pictures. We stopped at Caribou Crossing for lunch, a bit of shopping and a look at the huskies. Traveling back down on our small bus we stopped often and enjoyed the scenery and a little more shopping. Great tour and I highly recommend it!

We had a blast with the tour guide. She was very knowledgeable about the history of the area. She stopped at some of the most scenic spots on the ride to the Yukon. Without a doubt would do this tour again.

We had an awesome time on the Yukon Rail and Bus Adventure. It was very well organized and worth the money spent.

The bus adventure as just that. We saw a couple of bears right beside the road. Also enjoyed the lunch and exploring Carb Crossing.

Very much worth the time and the money. Our guides were knowledgeable and available but not intrusive. They left us time to simply look and enjoy.

What an amazing excursion. It was the highlight of our trip. Our tour guide Morgan was phenomenal. He was so knowledgeable, funny and had a very outgoing and kind presence. The scenery was beautiful. The picture spots were breathtaking and it was an experience we will never forget.

It was a wonderful ride . The water falls and mountain lakes were magnificent. All of the scenery was gorgeous . Our train tour guide and our shuttle tour guide were wonderful . Very friendly and knowledgeable . The lunch was delious. Would highly recommend this excursion.

Brian our guide was outstanding. He turned the bus around several times so that we could go back to observe black bears. He was knowledgeable and warm. The scenery, history and the White Pass train ride were unforgettable. I would like to to do this again!

Our narrator on the train, Carlos, made this a great experience. The food was excellent, too--especially the fresh berry pie!

A tour is only as good as your tour guide and we had one. Jeannie was great in her knowledge of the area and her own travel experience. Very nice balance of train viewing and small van viewing.Highly recommended.
