Ocho Rios Exclusive Dunn's Falls and Area Highlights
Once in a lifetime excitement
November 05, 2023
We had fun on this climb up Dunns River Falls but it is a challenge walking on the rocks so I wouldn’t recommend for really young children. Nonslip shoes are a must. We booked this excursion instead of the ones from the ship because this one included a drive to a beautiful mountain overlook of our ship and avoided the pushy markets that everyone else hated. We also had fun sampling spices from a side stand too.

My family had a wonderful time seeing and climbing the falls. Definitely something you have to see when visiting the area. Thank you to our awesome guides!

Fun day in Ocho rios
March 24, 2020
The local Jamaican authorities did not allow disembarking the ship till afternoon and tours were being cancelled. Was very surprised to see that our guide had waited for us all morning.
She made it a fun afternoon. The falls are fun to climb even though spoils a bit the beauty of the place.

Don't miss it!

Tour company met us right at end of pier, very friendly. Dunn's Falls climb was awesome but wouldn't recommend if you have feet, knee and back problems. Only thing I didn't like was the solicitation of vendors on your way out of the park. They are many and quite aggressive. Just ignore. Highlight tour was quick but very informative. Got to sample raw sugar cane and some fruits. There was time allocated to shop but we walked back to the ship. Do this tour!

What a Blast
February 04, 2020
I wasn't sure what to expect, but any hopes for a decent time were greatly exceeded. From the local guides who helped us to the top, to the people we met on the way up, it was a great time. Mildly strenuous, but if this 67 year old can do it there aren't too many who won't be able to. Highly recommended, but wear good water shoes and carry nothing that can't get wet, because that's half the fun.

Dunn's Falls

The area highlights of this tour were very limited...just a drive through the upper regions. Nothing specific to see or do. The Falls is beautiful. You can walk half of the Falls and stop before the really steep part.

Wish we could stay there longer

The fall is amazing. We climbed from the sea to the top of the fall. I wish they could give us more time to enjoy the view.

A MUST
October 19, 2019
You have to climb the Ocho Rios Dunn's Falls if you ever get the chance. You need water shoes, our tour guides took us to buy them on the way to the falls. If possible, pick the earliest available excursion because the River Falls gets busy as the day goes on. They took photos and videos. They printed the photos, they're not great quality but they'll do and we can't seem to open the videos on the CD so we might have to email them. Other than that, really wonderful experience. The tour guides were awesome.

That was fun experience to go through the waterfall, after that we had a small excursion around the place, we tasted coconut with sugar and one guy showed us cocoa beans.

Dunn's Falls was Nice, but Disappointed in Jamaica
March 03, 2019
First, would like to thank Shore Excursions for working with the tour company for changing our date and pickup place for us. We had to be picked up from Falmouth due to a port change. This gave us a chance to see Jamaica as we traveled back to Ocho Rios. So much garbage everywhere; on the streets, in the bush, on the beaches, everywhere. Very disappointing. Dunn's Falls was nice. But didn't really get much time to enjoy it as I ended up having to help others who had problems with mobility as since I was put between them. But the falls is beautiful for sure. The "highlights" were limited since we had a long ride back. But an old local who shared his knowledge of the country and bought some spices from him. Overall this tour provided you what we were to see and we did enjoy ourselves. Would recommend it.

Fun with excellent guide
February 25, 2019
The trip started with a tour of the island with a stop at a small roadside stand where a local man was selling spices. After giving us some samples of local fruits he described his spices, reasonably priced and locally produced, we bought several spices.
We then went to Dunn’s River Falls and although both of us are in our 70’s climbed all the way to the top. The guides are very helpful and encouraging.
After we went to a local shop where they had arranged discounts.
The best thing was the guide’s handling of a bad situation. Someone had “mistakenly “ taken a box of ours with a couple bottles of rum. Alysia, the guide, waited while we went back on the ship to try and contact the others on the tour. After that came up empty, she hailed another tour bus, took me back to the store to purchase more rum, tracked down a cab there and came with me back to the ship. Talk about service! We would recommend the tour, it was one of our best, and especially recommend Alysia.

4.5 score - Fun in the Sun

Good times with group. Expect to get very wet! I suggest having sturdy wet shoes- I used my jet ski shoes. Many lost "slipper style" shoes in waterfall due to rushing water.

the Dunns falls was an exceptional experience. Well organized, coordinated and a fun event. A great opportunity to meet people
with the same motive- to get to the top of the falls.

Dunns Falls
February 24, 2018
This was my cruise highlight as at almost 80 years old I was able to complete the 180 foot climb through constant rushing water and huge smooth granite boulders, from the sandy beach all the way to the top in roughly 90 minutes. Remember, in Jamaica, you end every sentence with the word MON, with emphasis.

Dunn's falls
December 21, 2017
The actual experience was awesome.
The tour guides getting us there left much to be desired.
They didn't communicate well, lots of standing around waiting which was unnecessary. We ditched the tour back in town because it was so bad, and got back to the ship on our own. Will only book thru cruise line from now on.
Learned my lesson as it's not worth the few bucks you save.

1st - finding the office & checking in was a breeze (staff super friendly). The tour guide/bus driver were amazing - Dunn's River Fall was awesome (our guide was great & took some amazing pics/videos). The tour afterwards was educational & entertaining; especially the spice man. Finally the price was the best & the group small!!

So much fun
March 17, 2017
This tour group was the best tour I have been on in years. Our guide was top notch. We arrived at the falls and had more than enough time to climb and sightsee. We choose not to climb the falls at the last minute and just walk around. Next stop was shopping--can't say enough, the brought us to a small shopping area and the prices were perfect. Then sightseeing we meet Denise of the mountain and tasted local fruits and veggies. Loved it would go again.

Great experience
January 01, 2017
Great tour even if I felt the description of 'area highlights' is a bit of an overstatement of what there actually is to see in Ocho Rios. Just FYI, you need water shoes (not allowed without) and there's really not much support when climbing the falls unless really asked for. You will get totally wet, head to toe so calculate with this

Fun experience, but quite physically demanding
March 28, 2016
Well organized excursion. Needs more information about the Falls experience, like, cost of lockers, need money for tips, strenuous climb on rocks. Island tour after falls could be shortened. Rain forest drive was nothing. Overlook was nice.

Overcrowded
January 16, 2016
While the tour bus was waiting when we got off the ship we then went to a staging area to wait again for other customers. The tour bus driver was very good and informative. Dunns River Falls was more challenging than expected and would have been fine except it was very overcrowded and at times a little dangerous climbing the falls. There did not seem to be any crowd control. Had the crowds been less or more controlled the excursion would have been fine.

Jammin' in Jamaica
December 30, 2015
This was a great excursion that we did on our Norwegian Getaway cruise. It was raining when we arrived at the port and the authority did their best to keep us out of the rain, and even called for the Yardie tour bus to come for us early so we could sit in the bus. After waiting for passengers from another cruise line we ventured on to Dunn's River Falls. We received cultural information on our way to the falls. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. Once we arrived there it was very organized for the group to tour the falls. The staff at the falls breaks you up into smaller groups, leading you up the falls while everyone holds each others hands to help the next person, and so no one strays from the group. You must be in really good condition, able to climb up and down various rock/step levels, and be able to keep up with the group. If you are not able to climb the falls they do have a stair/walk way up the side of the falls so you can either follow along with the group from the beginning, or you can stop the climb and move onto the stairway at a convenient time. The tour guides made it fun by having us rah rah as a group, sing songs, and stop for various pictures along the way. When we left the falls we toured the island. We went up a mountain where we met up with a local who makes his own spices. We tasted fresh sugar cane, pineapple, and other various items. It was really a lot of fun. We stopped at a shopping area for just few minutes so people could pick up trinkets to bring home, including coffee and some very potent rum.

Dunn's Falls and Area Highlights
December 23, 2015
We enjoyed the tour greatly. The Falls were awesome and the guides very friendly and helpful, especially for the four year old in the group who couldn't climb well. The tour of the area was informative and we loved meeting the locals. The views were spectacular. The guide, Denise was great and the driver was very accomplished. It's amazing we fit in some of the places we went. Would definitely recommend this tour.

I was a bit scared at first because I don't do climbs. This excursion was so much fun and it was absolutely beautiful. The guides made sure you didn't get hurt and stayed in a safe area. Our group was small but it was rather crowded on the falls so it may take some time to get up the falls. The sightseeing was informative and our guides were excellent. Especially our driver Michelle she was a great driver. I would recommend this excursion for those who like excitement.

Great Quality and Value for price

From the very beginning Alicia was very informative in what to expect on the ride to the Falls and informative about Ochos Rios beautiful culture and history. The guides Jose & Andre at the Falls where helpful and patient with our group. Jose helped me when I began to give up while taking pictures with everyone individual camera phone that remained dry in a plastic bag. Andre took a video of our visit that was available for purchase at the end of the climb. Although a fellow tourist made us late to leave the beautiful Dunns River to continue our tour Alicia and Darryl made sure we got our monies worth and got us back to the ship on time. We were able to sample fresh sugar cane, coconut, mango, smell fresh spices and still stop for souvenirs. Alicia even helped me out with a personal female issue and went to the supermarket while I shopped for souvenirs! I would definitely use Yardie again and will recommend them to other travelers going to the beautiful Jamaica! Definitely ask for Alicia! Visited June 2014

Great excursion!!
May 24, 2012
The falls were beautiful! The climb was rather annoying!! The guides yelling and making everyone hold hands took forever! We walked around everyone and walked up alone, not recommended by all there... But I couldn't stand it! One lady grabbed me as she fell and pulled me down with her. Hurt my hip. Once we were climbing alone... It was so much better!! And people started following my boyfriend and I. The second part of the excursion was fabulous! Our guide, Lewis, was knowledgable and friendly! He took us all over the island, walked us to and from stores. The Jamaican people are sooo friendly!! So incredible, yet, so poor! This excursion started slow... And ended up being one of our favorite places we have ever visited! I would do this excursion again, without the falls.

My husband and I had a great time on this excursion. You do need water shoes and you get completely wet. That's the fun of it. Also take a waterproof camera if you want pictures. Instead of the area highlights, next time I would do the horseback riding. I heard that was amazing from some friends who went.

Yardis Tours were great! Alecia was a fantastic guide. If you go to Dunn River Falls, be sure and have the proper footing, but they rent/sell footwear. Also, prepare to get completely wet, not kind of wet, so bring towels, extra tees. Otherwise, a very fun and unique experience. Yardis took us to see much of the town as well. It's always interesting to see things off the path. Our only regret was the port of call was too short -- we had to be back by 3:00 -- so we were a little rushed at the end. Highly recommend.
