Exclusive Ancient Olympia

We learned a lot of history and still had time at the end to do what we wanted and we were able to briefly go through the extra terrace homes exhibit, albeit a run through but at least we got to see it. We had heard from many other passengers that their tours were rushed but we didn't feel that way!

Our guide was very knowledgeable. A very nice tour and I am glad to have done it. To stand in the arena where the original Olympic games took place was awesome.

Plenty of time to see and enjoy the area.

Fascinating, the restoration work done and continuing to be done is absolutely fabulous. Like stepping back in time.

We had a very good trip, the weather was about perfect, and our guise friendly and knowledgeable.

Olympia came to life with our excellent guide. Even with weekend crowds, she took time to answer all questions. Our group was smaller and more intimate.

Informative and comfortable!

We feel very lucky to have had Maria as our guide. She was very knowledgeable of the history of the ares, she made the tour fun with her passion for history. She has multiple masters degrees in history and you could tell she loves what she’s doing making it fun for us. She shared about her husband’s family in the generational business of olive oil. Maria also a great job of handling a few obnoxious condescending passengers in our tour. This was our favorite excursion of our trip. We wish we could’ve spent the whole day with her.

Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and shared an abundance of historical information with us. Seeing the ruins of ancient Olympia and running in the footsteps of those who ran the 1st Olympic race was thrilling.

A superb experience. Excellent tour guide. She was a resourceful expert who brought the Olympic grounds to life for us while navigating our group through blistering temperatures and crushing crowds. She was clearly an expert on the history of the site, the current state of restoration, the interests of our group, and the physical needs of each individual. Her English was superb and her personality was delightful. Highly recommend this tour.

Date: July 10, 2023 WOW! This was so cool to see. Olympia is an active archeological site unraveling the beginning of the Summer Olympic Games. I still can't believe I was on these grounds where many great athletes once stood. The site is all ruins, but for the pure history aspect of it, it is a must see. In the museum, there is a display showing what it once looked like in its prime, based on the archeological finds. The place was huge and we only got to see a glimpse of it (primarily because our tour guide talked a lot and his English wasn't great and it was relatively busy). I do wish we would have had more free time to be able to explore the grounds a bit more because we only say something like 8 of the 40-something sites. I'd absolutely recommend this tour for anyone wanting to gush over the history of the Summer Olympic Games. It's well worth seeing a bunch of ruins.

We truly enjoyed this tour, although it was a hot day. There was plenty to see and our guide gave us alot of information. We recommend this tour and especially this company.

Antonia was a great guide, the addition of the Olive Oil farm was amazing and a can't miss.

Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly and spoke excellent English. I forget her name. Bus ride was a bit long, but worth the time and comfortable.

Best of both worlds - this started with a guided tour by a very knowledgeable guide, then we were left with some time at the end to do our own exploring, including visiting the on-site museum (admission is also included in cost of the excursion).

Good tour to see ancient ruins, unfortunately most of the structures are destroyed, there are lot of historic pieces and our tour guide did a good job explaining everything to us.

This was a great place to visit. Standing on the same ground as the ancient athletes was awesome. Seeing all the buildings and the facilities was very impressive. Easy walking. Olympia is a nice town for shopping and eating.

A tour instructor can really make a huge effect on any tour and ours sure did. We really liked all the information and energy she brought to our group. If/When we go back to this area, we would to look up additional tours by her. Olympia the site is wonderful and is a lovely park setting.

This was a great tour of the ancient Olympia Stadium & surrounding ancient building ruins. We went there by a large comfortable bus with A/C. Our guide was very nice & knowledgeable & gave us time to see everything before moving on. Not much is left of the actual stadium, just an outline, but it was cool to see & you could run it to say you did if you liked! It was a hot day so we preferred to watch! This is definitely worth the visit! Afterwards we had time to shop in the small village of Olympia & get something to eat.

Great tour, not alot of shade so be prepared to be in the Sun.

There were 4 of us that took this took and the most important thing I can say is the tour guide was outstanding and very knowledgably. I would highly recommend this tour. There is a bit of walking but it's at a slower pace.

Upon leaving the ship the tour operator was easy to find. The tour guides very informative, with much local knowledge. Easy to understand, English was excellent. Would use this operator again.

Husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this excursion. So much history to hear about and guide very proficient in English. Would recommend.

The tour was very good however it poured rain which dampened the excursion. The guide was knowledgeable and very friendly. It was cold with the rain so we stopped for an expresso and cannoli on our way back. So good! Had it been a nice day I’m sure it would of changed the whole experience.

We found the site amazing, It was not crowded and we could hear everything the tour guide said. Lots of free time to wonder among the ruins.

The tour guide was awesome! It was so cool to see the Olympic Site. Very hot out so probably didn't appreciate it as much as I could on a cooler day!

This tour was very interesting and the tour guide was amazing giving us the history behind all the ruins. It was amazing to see the site of the first olympics! The bus ride there was good to see the countryside

We went to Ancient Olympia, and what a day. It was fantastic, so much excavated, it really is worth visiting. To go around somewhere so old and significant to the world, to hear the history and the true meaning of the Olympics was so interesting and educational. My husband really enjoyed it as one of the best excursions we had on our holiday. It was so well organised and a fraction of the price we would have to paid if booked from the cruise. Everything was easy to navigate from meeting the tour guide and finding the bus, all carefully worked out so we were back at the ship in plenty of time before it departed. I will definitely use again for all excursions for future holidays.

I can't remember our guide's name, but she gave us a great tour. She gave us so much interesting information, and it was clear that she really enjoys her job. I would take this tour again.

Our tour was paced well and the guide wass extremely informative. The destination was amazing and the guide helped us to visualize it's original beauty and the first Olympic games. Could not have asked for more...great value, great tour.

Our guide, Dina, was excellent - full knowledge of the history, very easy to understand and added good humour to her talks. Antonia, our guide was great, but we should like to have more time in the museums.

Beautiful drive with a wonderful guide (who knew the right amount of information and didn't bog us down with nonsense). The pace was easy and we even had time to visit the archeological museum as well. Would have liked to explore the modern town of Olympia, but we'll save that for another time.

The bus was there early and the tour guide was very informative. We had some structured time an open time. It was a good balance. the town of olympia has cute restaurants and stores.
