Kotor Above the Clouds
Intimate Hike in the Clouds
August 26, 2023
We thoroughly enjoyed our hike in Kotor. Since we were the only ones who had booked this tour, we had the guide all to ourselves. We got an in-depth lesson in the country's history, language, culture, natural heritage, and more! Stopping at the refuge was very authentic. The food an drinks provided were delicious. The service was knowledgeable and warm. I highly recommend this tour if you enjoy hiking - but you must have a certain level of fitness.

Goran was our tour guide and did a really nice job. He did not push the group but let us set our own pace. He answered all our questions and was very knowledgeable. He took extra time at the end to guide us to Old Town and give us advice on what to do. The climb is worth the view and the refreshments at the cafe up on the mountain!

Gordon was fantastic!

It was just two of us and Gordon! Gordon grew up in Old Town and knew everyone. A true local. The hike was beautiful and the info he provided was great too. He went out of his way to take us into Old Town and show us some historical sites and his recommendations for food/drinks.

Vanja, our guide, was knowledgeable, accommodating, and happy to tailor our excursion to fit our needs. We hiked up the side of the mountain, stopped at a lovely cafe for fresh pomegranate juice and he gave us a taste of the walled city before returning to the port right on time,

Great Excursion. Our guild was from Kotor and provided amazing information on the community, history and tips for how to spend the rest of our day in Kotor.

On this excursion it was just my wife and I. Our tour guide Petar was excellent. He had a lot of infomation about the history of Kotor and tthe area. We did not go up the steps as every other cruise tour does. He took us around the side and went up an old goat road that has many switchbacks. It was very hot out and he let us take as many breaks as we needed. We were very glad there was a place at the top to get some cold water to cool of and drink. He took us down the steps and back to the meeting point. The views were amazing! Make sure to bring water with you on the way up.

Although we could have done the hike on our own, we loved the imput from our guide and our unique route back down. The stop for refreshments was fun too. Really enjoyed ourselves despite the physical workout!

This was my favorite tour from my whole trip. If you like to hike, this is the tour for you. There were only 5 of us in this group with Gordon our guide and he was great. Fantastic views, went up a switchback trail, climbed through a window of the fort, them proceeded to climb to the very top of the old fort looking down on the old town of Kotor. Walked back down the 1400 plus steps, fantastic!

Climbing above Kotor
July 30, 2018
This was described as a hike up a small mountain. Sailing in, we wondered which one was the 'small' mountain but it turned out we climbed part way up a big one. Most people went up and down the stairs, but since we had a guide we took the easier route up some switchbacks, had refreshments at the top, climbed through a window into the fort for a spectacular vista, and came down the 1400 stairs. It's not for the fainthearted and we were very happy we didn't have to climb the stairs. The guide was excellent and as we were a group of 6, we could all hear all the time.

Excellent excursion. Our guide was extremely nice and willing to go at any pace we liked. The views were breathtaking and the old Fort and walls were very interesting. Be sure to bring water, sunglasses and a hat, though water was provided free of charge at the quaint stop in the old villiage.
