Taormina and Etna with The Gold of the Gods
Interesting small group excursion
December 12, 2023
We had plenty of time to explore both Taormina & Mt. Etna . Our guide was very personable & knowledgeable. I like the small group excursions better than the large ones done by the ships. “ The Gold of the Gods” was not what we expected. It was just a stop at a tiny store that let you taste samples.

A wonderful visit

Our guide, Celia, was friendly and provided a lot of interesting information about the places we saw en route and the sites we visited. She was flexible with our itinerary, allowing us enough time to enjoy Crateri Silvestri and Taormina while still getting us back to the ship on time. Nuncio, our driver, was impressive with his navigation of the narrow streets and tight switchbacks. We were glad he was driving!

Something different for nature lovers

Firstly the company providing this excursion was outstanding . The bus was excellent the tour guide was the best we had our entire cruise . He provided the perfect amount of information and enough time to see the sites . We loved walking around the carers at My Etna . The hillside village was also beautiful. Great views and the best cannoli !

Beyond our expectations!

This was one of out two favorite tours, showcasing Sicily's rural and urban areas. Our guide, Sara, was delightful, and extremely knowledgable. Our driver was happy to lend a hand getting in and out of the luxurious van, and to carry our shopping baskets (We later found he was the owner of the company, there to work on his english!). We were with another couple, and Sara made sure each of us had a wonderful, personalized experience. Book this tour rather than the larger ship ones. You'll be glad you did!

Great tour and guide. We were lucky to have Sara as our guide as I learned so much from her in a short time. Luckily we had rain coats, but still froze being on Etna. Bring a jacket!!! Lol.

One of our favorites! Our guide, Pepe, was great! Due to a port change by our ship, we did not have time to do the farm stop inland still have adequate time at Etna and in Taormina. We absolutely loved both of those stops; wouldn’t have changed anything! (Pepe gave us great food and beverage snacks on the bus and wonderful recommendations for Taormina.)

Was well worth it

We just returned form a recent NCL cruise from the Rome port of the Mediterranean sea with three Shore Excursions tours including the this tour of Taormina and the Gold of The Gods and Mt. Etna. It was an awesome day with them. They even included a special stop for lunch at an authentic Italian restaurant high in the mountains on the way to Mt. Etna were we were treated to authentic pizza and a drink at no cost to us this was very generous. But I was very impressed with Shore Excursions. They were very professional and offered essentially the same tour but even better than what the ship was offering but for a much better price. Their buses were all very clean and new Mercedes Benz. The guides were all educated in the subjects and local traditions and customs and spoke English well. I will use Shore excursions again on every cruise from now on were available.

Awesome!

This was one of the highlights of the cruise for me. Our guide, Sara was amazing. She had good info and she did not drag on and on about what we were looking at. We hiked Etna and enjoyed the surroundings. The hike to the top of the second crater takes about 10 mins, there are two ways, the easy way and the nightmare way. I did the nightmare way! Take heed, ITS HARD! Views are amazing.
