Pompeii, Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast

Of all our excursions throughout the Oasis of the Seas cruise, this trip was at the top. Our driver (Giuseppe) was at the cruise pier waiting on us as advertised. He was very friendly and his love for his job showed throughout our time with him. Once we got to Pompeii, a young lady waiting for us at the ticket line that would be our guide through the city. She got our tickets very quickly which allowed us to avoid the lines. She was fantastic and provided a ton of knowledge during our tour. After this tour, she handed us back off to Giuseppe where we departed for Sorento and the Amalfi coast. We were ready for lunch at the Sorento stop, so we asked Giuseppe for recommendations. He walked us around to his regular eating place which happened to be overlooking the cliffs and sea. The view was postcard perfect. Per his recommendation, my wife and I got the seafood pasta and pizza. Wow!!! After Sorento, we headed out to the Amalfi coast then back to the ship. Great time!

Great tour - wish there had been time for seeing Amalfi coast. Pompeii tour was perfect and Sorrento was beautiful ( spend more time there on another trip).

Our guide was Ariana, who was informative, funny, and gorgeous. She made this tour very special, especially for my 9 year old son, who she spoke and held hands with walking through Sorrento. We were disappointed with the guided tour of Pompeii which is given by another guide onsite, because it didn't include the tons of bodies frozen in time that we all hear about. All we saw was an archeological tour of the old city which is cool, but doesn't capture the horror of that day when Vesuvius blew its top. We saw 2.5 bodies in total, behind glass. The rest of the day was a treat though. Wonderful views along the coastlines and a great stop in Sorrento, where we had a delicious lunch. After that, a couple of scenic stops at overlooks of the Amalfi coast. Note that the tour does not actually go all the way to Positano, but you do get a view of it from one of the scenic overlooks. Again, Ariana and the driver were both wonderful and I would love to have them give us another tour any day.

This tour was EXCELLENT!!! Luca was amazing. He was knowledgeable, super friendly and kept us engaged throughout the day with historic and entertaining facts. He was also very humorous and had us laughing throughout the tour. We were a large family group of 13 (ages 9 - 72) and he made us feel so welcomed. The mini bus we used was great. Spacious, very strong AC and easy to get in and out of. Our tour guide in Pompeii, Margareta, was awesome. she made Pompeii sound even more amazing by how she explained the history. This tour is an absolute MUST!!

The coastal road allowed for lovely clear views and photo opportunities. Our driver, Luca, shared some of his own stories to give us a sense of local life. The van of 20 was a manageable size of group for our stops. Pompeii was compelling with an individual guide there. So much to see but we learned a lot! We didn't see all that was noted on the tour itinerary in Sorrento, but had free time to wander. Along a back street were some interesting 14th century buildings. Luca made a good recommendation for a local restaurant. A fair amount of time driving the coast road but it did give us a lovely day's outing.

One of the best days during our holiday. Our guide kept us entertained, laughing and learning. My kids had tons of fun. Highly recommend this one.

Great tour; morning in Pompeii with expedited entry, lunch in Sorrento, and then a leisurely drive around the Amalfi Coast. Could have used a bit more time in Sorrento.

when we got off our boat, we were greeted by Gabriella and a sign with our name on it. I can not say enough about how informative and helpful she was through the day. It was a truly enjoyable experience from start to finish. We felt so comfortable, like we were with family. The sights were incredible! We didn't feel rushed at all, was very relaxed and Gabriella's bubbly personality made the day go by all to quickly! I would highly recommend this tour and our tour guide to anyone!

I just wanted to say that I enjoyed my tour of these areas so very much! I had the most wonderful mediterranean cruise and I used shore excursions for 8 out of our 10 stops! This truly was one of my favorite stops and nunzia was an amazing tour guide! I would definitely do it again

If you take this excursion make sure you decide with the group to dine in Sorrento not in Pompeii. Enjoy Sorrento and spend more time in it.

Tour guide for Pompeii was outstanding. She was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We only spend about 2 hours at Pompeii and we regret that we didn't have more time there. The stop at bustling city of Sorrento for lunch was OK. Our driver gave us a good suggestion for where to eat. Our drive through the Amalfi coast was very scenic and we had adequate chances to take photos. Our last stop at the Limoncello shop was worthwhile. Overall, our driver was very entertaining, courteous, and skillful.

Excellent guide and wonderul to see. I would highly recommend.

This was such a great tour!!!!! Giuseppe was our driver and he was phenomenal. Not only an excellent safe driver, but the most charming funny guide we had our entire trip in the Mediterranean. He was kind, informative, and truly passionate about the places he took us! I can’t remember the guide we had in Pompeii, but she was AMAZING!!!! I almost cried when we had to leave her because of how great she was!! Aside from the great guides, Pompeii is a must see!!!!! The most fascinating of all the ancient ruins we visited. The Almafi coast is absolutely stunning and Sorrento is the cutest little town with amazing food and all the limoncello you could ask for! Please book this tour!!!

This excursion is for one who wants to learn about and see a variety of different parts of Italy in a day. Our guide through Pompeii was so informative and knew where to take us to avoid any other of the many tours going on during the same time. The history of the ruins was fascinating from the buildings to the roadways, all with a story. Next, we spent some time in Sorrento walking the streets and seeing and smelling numerous lemon trees. Driving up the Amalfi Coast was a treat of beautiful terrain. It reminded me of Cape Breton Island in Maritime Canada.

Pompeii tour guide was very good, there is just so much to see and take in I could have spent 2 days there alone. The trip to Sorrento was OK, but basically dropped off to shop/eat then go for a drive down the highway to see the coast. I think if you are interested in the Pompeii it would be better to just take it, as the other two spots were not near as interesting. If you want to shop then I guess Sorrento would be fine. The tour guide/operator for the mini bus was fine but his english was so so and the speakers in the bus did not help.

With our tour being one of the last in the season, some might think this tour may be somewhat of a let down. YOU WOULD BE WRONG! Our tour guides were fantastic! Gabriella and Valerio were FUN and Informative! From gridlock traffic, restaurant reservations, top notch Gelato advice, breathtaking cliffs, to personal dreams and desires, Gabriella and Valerio were open to ALL questions! Their willingness to share their lives and give detailed accounts to the locations we visited completely opened up the entire group of people on the tour. We didn’t get a lot of time to take in the views at Sorrento, but enough time to walk and shop as desired. If you get the opportunity to take this tour, I would advise requesting Gabriella and Valerio as your guides. They TRULY made this an experience to remember.

Our tour guide was EXCELLENT. We had a small van that held 8 people ok it should the driver. He was very informative and spoke English well. We had a local guide walk us through the Roman ruins and he was super enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable.

Very good but would like more stops for pictures but realize this would be difficult considering the terrain.

What an experience! Our cruise ended up docking an hour and a half later than what we were supposed to and since my husband and I were debarking our cruise early, it took us even longer to get off the boat because guest service was AWFUL. I was so stressed by the time we got off because I was sure the excursion had left us behind. After looking around, Sal, that wonderful man was standing there with my name on a piece of paper. We were so lucky to be apart of Sal's group. There were 14 of us, what a fun trip this was. Our tour at Pompeii was short and sweet. Our drive around the amalfi coast and sorrento coast was amazing and thrilling! Thank you Sal! we also loved your singing no matter how wrong you sing the song! *heart eyes*

One of the best excursions. Only 5 of us. Very personal. Would recommend this excursion to anyone.
