Dolphin Reef & Captain Cook Snorkel Adventure

This was a very personalized snorkel trip... only 6 of us on the boat! Chris was an excellent captain and shared many interesting facts about the area. Nice sandwiches for lunch, too.

Kris was an excellent guide. He was super nice and very informative. I enjoyed the boat ride and snorkeling too. Definitely recommend!

I enjoyed the 3 hour excursion. Our captain and Guide were very good. They explained the history of the area and made it fun. The snorkelling was interesting. I would recommend this excursion. Carol

We had such a great time on this excursion! The boat ride/tour was a lot of fun, and we saw dolfins! The snorkeling spot was the best snorkeling we have ever done, absolutley amazing! Then on the way back, we got to see the lava rock tubes and caves which was really cool.

This was an awesome trip to a really nice cove and reef. Plenty of room to swim and snorkel and see all kinds of fish, corral, and just about everything else. The boat ride was perfect and the Capt / first mate were awesome 👍

Loved this trip! The crew was fun and friendly and flexible, we got to snorkel for basically as long as we wanted and it was a wonderful spot. We saw so many dolphins as well. Crew provided wraps, chips and drinks for lunch. Take cover-ups and sun hats, not a lot of respite from the sun, but the boat is fast and the water was nice and cool at the beginning of April, we were super comfortable both in and out of the water. Hawaii has thankfully outlawed non-reef-safe sunscreens but you can easily purchase Reef Safe Sunscreen at your local stores before you go or at the many Long’s Drugs or Safeway or ABC stores on the islands. Several of our shipmates saw a sea turtle while snorkeling, but we missed it on this trip. The group we went with was called Iruka and they were great!

The reef was full of fish and clear. Smooth boat ride. Even saw a pod of dolphins on the way back. The guides provided snacks and wraps and they were good. Classic corny jokes etc. from the guides. Enjoyable time.

We enjoyed the snorkeling portion of this tour. Our boat captain was 45 minutes late due to boat maintenance problems. We finally got underway and spotted a school of bottle-nosed dolphins then some humpback whales. We had a blast snorkeling which lasted an hour. The wind picked up substantially. Our boat ride back was very, very rough. We were coming off the seat and hitting our tailbone. One senior slid off her seat. it was then the captain made arrangements to pull into a harbor nearby and we were shuttled back to the pier. The captain can't be blamed for the weather. I would not recommend this for elderly person or anyone with back issues for this reason.

Excellent snorkeling & dolphin sightings. One is only able to see the Capt. Cook Monument from the water. It was a disappointment to not be able to go on land to have a photo with the monument. One is not told that in the information.

Got to swim with the dolphins then head over to captain cook snorkel spot. Water was clear the tour guides were awesome. Gave some history on the way back. There will be no bathrooms once you leave the pier so make sure you go before you go LOL. Would definitely recommend this tour

We had Buddha and I believe maybe Chris? (Sorry!) and they were absolutely wonderful. Took us to the best place to snorkel and even showed us some really awesome sights along the way with some history.

Just got back to the ship after an amazing afternoon at dolphin reef and captain cook memorial snorkeling. On the way to the coral reef snorkeling we got to stop off and get into the water with a pod of around 30 dolphins! An amazing experience. The two tour guides were awesome and very knowledgeable of the area and folklore. Also felt like a private tour as there was only 4 of us on it. If you are in Kona 100% do this tour! Free lunch and drinks included too :-)

We loved our guide on our snorkel adventure. On our zodiac boat we got up close to spinner dolphins and the volcanic coastline. It was a relaxing time on the water and perfect amount of time doing it.

We saw the spinning dolphins, caves, cormorants, and more. The ride on the Zodiac was exhilarating! Lunch sandwiches were OK. Crew friendly and knowledgeable! As others have stated, there is no head (toilet) on the Zodiac.

This excursion was so fun we saw spinner dolphins it was perfect there were probably about 14 of us nice small group got to ride a zodiac boat which was fun the guides were awsome.
