Savona, a seaport municipality in the Liguria Region of Italy, offers access to this beautiful, panoramic coastal territory. Take a walking tour through the medieval, narrow streets of the historic center to discover the oldest eateries, with their delicious and traditional dishes, enriched by delicately-flavored extra-virgin olive oil (typical from this side of Liguria). Your savory excursion will incorporate five traditional dishes served in the different eateries, starting with an entree and ending with a typical Italian dessert or a delicious ice cream.
Meet up with your English-speaking local, friendly and ever so knowledgeable representative after debarking your ship and set off for a wonderful half-day experience tasting the best dishes of this area and being introduced to local customs and traditions. This is a very social dining experience where people from all over the world can share food and stories, enjoying a relaxed and joyful atmosphere. Expect one serving minimum at each stop plus water, wine or beer/soft drinks will also be served.
Your group is kept to a small number, offering a very personal and intimate experience allowing you to become completely immersed in the best culinary experience ever. Taste some of the specialties of the region including, based on product availability, Panissa: a crispy crust, made with chickpea flour. Farinata: a delicious chickpea pancake cooked in a flaming oven. Pasta with pesto: the authentic recipe of classic basil Pesto sauce, made of local fresh basil and pine nuts! Fresh Ligurian Fish: the best "Fritto Misto" in town. Classic Focaccia: the original typical from Genoa with local extra-virgin olive oil. Ice cream or dessert: taste the typical and delicious Amaretti di Sassello or the best artisanal ice cream in Savona. Caffe: Italian coffee rituals expect you to end your meal with an Espresso coffee.
