Altun-Ha and Jeep Adventure

Altun-Ha was a major trading center, agricultural town and toll city built by the Mayans between 200 B.C. to 800 A.D. Learn about the Mayans, Belize's first inhabitants, as you tour the famous ruins.

During this Belize excursion walk among several structures, including a tomb that contains a 6-inch carved jade head of Kinich Ahau, the Mayan Sun God. This jade carving is the largest well-carved jade object excavated in Belize to date. Climb the steps of the Temple of the Sun God for amazing panoramic views of the site and surrounding area. Throughout your Belize cruise excursion be sure to have your camera to capture a few frame-worthy shots! While here, feel the energy of the Mayan ancestors, as your guide shares fascinating facts about the area's history and development.

After exploring the area you will head to Hattieville, a community born of displaced families following the aftermath of Hurricane Hattie in 1961. Following a brief safety meeting and overview of road rules you will board a Jeep for the ride of a lifetime!

Take the wheel and blaze through the pine savannah and lush forest, as you make your way to the foothills of the Maya Mountains. The merging of these distinct ecosystems provides you the opportunity to see a variety of plants and wildlife, including more than 500 species of birds. Keep your eyes peeled for the Jabiru Stork, yellow headed parrots and the Keel-billed Toucan, the national bird of Belize. You might also see bats, jaguars, ocelots and pumas. Check the trees for orchid sightings including the famed Black Orchid.

Stop midway through your adventure to see a cave system and discover how they were formed and used by various cultures including the Mayans. Exit the forest trail near the Sibun River then drive back to headquarters to enjoy a delicious, traditional Belizean lunch.

Take a few minutes to relax in a hammock, or enjoy a swim in the river before your return back to port.

Book this family friendly tour now for an exciting day in the rainforest and Mayan Ruins of Altun Ha.

Please Note: Guests should be physically fit to participate in this 6-hour tour. Maximum weight for guests in 300 lbs. No wheelchair access available.

Amazing Tour Guide! Really great all day adventure
March 15, 2023
This was a great day!! We got to see all of Belize which I really loved about it. I wanted to see more than just the port gift shops and 1 over crowded beach. In this you get to see the Belize rainforest, caves that Mayans used and still have some artifacts inside. And then of course you get to your the Mayan site. Our Tour Guide was GREAT! Roberto was a great guide, so much knowledge and very friendly. The Jeep’s were in good condition and everyone had their own jeep for their group. Then you get to visit this village near the jungle where they feed you a traditional Belize lunch. The food was very good and the area where we ate was beautiful. Thank you Roberto, you are very good at your profession.

Amazing Belizean Experience
February 04, 2023
Overall, experience was AMAZING!! Huge props to Robbie and the rest of the staff! Loved that the visit to the pyramids did not drag on, and we had lots of opportunities to take pictures. Robbie was very informative and super kind. Authentic Belizean cuisine was some of the best food we had on our entire cruise! Overall definitely worth the price! Highly recommend

Awesome Trip!

So glad we went with this excursion for our cruise. We were a large group of 20 so we had two guides, Robby and Gabriel, and they were both amazing. They had such vast knowledge on Belize, its history, anything you’d need to know. They had water and snacks for us all day which was appreciated, and the highlight was getting to have a home cooked meal at the farm at the end of the day, which was delicious! This is a family run business and you can see the love they put into it, and we definitely felt part of the family by the end of the day. If I had to sum it up, it was a snapshot of Belize in a day. I’d highly recommend them.

We had a great time on the tour. The guides were amazing and very knowledgeable. My kids (7 and 10) loved it as well. The ruins were breathtaking, the jeeps were fun to drive, and the cave was really cool. We also liked the lunch they provided at the end. Would definitely book a tour with them again and highly recommend it!
