Lake Bennett Scenic Journey Train Ride in Skagway, Alaska

Travel along the same route that the Klondike stampeders traversed in 1898 from Skagway to Yukon Territory by train, followed by a scenic ride along the Klondike Highway to Skagway. This Skagway excursion is a great option to combine the best of your Canadian and Alaskan getaway.

Along the Skagway journey, you will enjoy a 45-minute visit at Lake Bennett. This area is special and unique in that it can only be reached via the White Pass Train or by directly hiking the famous Chilkoot Trail. Once there, enjoy a self-guided walking tour of the Chilkoot Trail National Historic Site and the 1910 Bennett Station historical museum in Bennett.

A hearty turkey sandwich boxed lunch with chips, a side, and dessert is provided along the train portion of your journey between Bennett and Carcross. You'll spend about 4 hours and 15 minutes on the train, enjoying the picturesque Alaskan scenery as you travel through this beautiful part of the world.

Carcross is located at the foot of Lake Bennett. Once at Carcross, passengers are transferred to a comfortable tour vehicle for a visit to Emerald Lake, the most photographed lake in the Yukon Territory. The approximately 2 and a half hour trip back to Skagway by bus will include various stops which will provide many photo opportunities of the breathtaking beauty of waterfalls, rivers, majestic mountains, vast glaciers, historic sites, and panoramic landscapes. Train was sooooo cool!
October 05, 2019
We absolutely loved this excursion, the train was so cool. We took a van up to the Yukon, our driver was so awesome, she made a lot of stops on the way so we could take pictures. We got on the train They served us a box lunch with sandwich, chips and a cookie bar. Very nice! Going to the Yukon was cool, the only complaint I have is I wish we could have stayed at the little town shopping a while longer before we had to head back down the mountain on the train. The crew on the train did an excellent job narrating. Such a scenic, picturesque photo journey.

It was a wonderful adventure. The train ride was great traveling through the wilderness. The mountains and lakes were beautiful. The last part of the trip was a bus ride with frequent photo stops to take pictures. The train crew and our bus driver were really great guides.

Beautiful Yukon
August 28, 2019
This trip was great! We took the train past the usual end point, and traveled on to Bennett Lake in BC, and continued on to Carcross, Yukon Territory. We wouldn't have gotten so far into the interior on any other excursion. The stark beauty of the trip was incredible. We also had a very interesting and knowledgeable guide who drove us back from Carcross to Skagway, stopping for great pictures along the way.
