When you book this mouth-watering and delicious tour in Lisbon, you will have an introduction to the gastronomy of the Portuguese food and drink culture. In your small group of no more than 10 guests, this tour will offer a very intimate and personal look into authentic food in the city. With up to 6 different stops, discover the scenic Mouraria district where stunning views over the city await.
Meet up with your local, professional guide who will begin to escort you around the city to eateries and shops that are where the locals haunt and call their favorites. This very personal experience will allow you to try different types of culinary delights as well as drinks, guaranteed to get your taste buds tingling.
Your first stop will take you to a nice "Garrafeira" to enjoy a delicious Porto wine. This is a very rare style of Port and many Port lovers have never even heard of it, and even fewer have ever tasted one. Literally the word garrafeira translates to bottle cellar, private wine cellar or bottle rack in Portuguese. Do not confuse this with the word garrafeira you may find on your typical table wine in Portugal. Throughout your tour you will have the great opportunity to taste different wines plus Aguardente de Medronho or Licor de Poejo (subject to seasonal availability).
Next, make your way to a special place to try the best "Bifana" in town. The Bifana is one of the most amazing pork sandwiches ever created! Your Bifana will be served with a fresh "Imperial" (Portuguese local beer) to wash it down. Along the way you will also be able to taste different cheeses and have the chance to try traditional Portuguese fish.
Continue in the heart of the Mouraria district where you will enjoy the stunning and panoramic view over the city and have the chance to admire all the beautiful old tiles that surround you. Don't forget to try some sardines and have a "Ginjinha" (Portuguese local liqueur).
From here, you will next visit a shop where your guide will show you the world's most delicious cured meat, Portuguese, of course. And then you will be shown one of the best hidden gems in Lisbon where you will taste some traditional handmade "Petiscos". Not sure what Petiscos are? This is generally small versions of large plates, but not exactly tapas, and are a part of Portugal's gastronomy and traditionally found in tascas, taverns or cafes.
But before your extraordinary time comes to an end, taste the famous and hand-made traditional Portuguese pastry "Pastel de Nata". Plus, there will also be a secret dish waiting for you before your tour is finished!
Please Note: The itinerary is subject to change, based on the locations and availability on a given day.
