Nestled between the stunning Isabel de Torres Mountain and the sparkling Atlantic Ocean, Puerto Plata sits on the north coast of the Dominican Republic, offering a beautiful blend of beaches, mountains, lush scenery, and rich history. As you drive through the bustling city of Puerto Plata, your excursion host will provide you with interesting information regarding the history and culture of Puerto Plata and the Dominican Republic. You will stop for photos and historical insights at the grounds of Fort San Felipe before heading on to famous Umbrella Street. The local representative will guide you along this historic street filled with unique boutiques and its colorful canopy of umbrellas.

Your next stop is the charming Paseo de Dona Blanca, also known as Pink Street, an eye-catching pink alley in the heart of the historic district, perfect for photos. From there, you'll visit Independence Park, where you'll learn about the Dominican Republic's journey to independence and its restoration period. You'll also have the chance to see the local cathedral and enjoy some free time to take photos of the park's beautiful Victorian architecture. The tour continues with a scenic drive along the Atlantic boardwalk, the Malecon, with a brief stop to capture a photo of the Neptune statue set on a small offshore islet.

Upon arrival at the resort beach in beautiful Playa Dorada, your host will welcome you with a refreshing complimentary rum punch and a quick orientation. Then it's time to unwind! Stroll along the golden sands, take a dip in the ocean, enjoy food and drinks at the beachfront bar and restaurant, or kick back on a complimentary lounger (they're first-come, first-served but there are plenty to go around). Before heading back to port, enjoy one more rum punch to toast a relaxing day in paradise.

After this relaxing time away at the beach, you will return to the cruise center in comfort.

Shopping, Sightseeing & Beach Combo Tour

With so much to do in St. Thomas, this combination tour is the perfect way to take it all in. Beginning with shopping in the capital city of Charlotte Amalie, followed by a sightseeing tour and a trip to Magens Bay Beach, this is the ideal St. Thomas excursion for someone who wants a little bit of everything. You will enjoy all of this, intermingled with some Caribbean music for your entertainment and fun.

Your day begins with a trip to Charlotte Amalie for shopping along the Waterfront and Main Street. You will be free to explore the upscale shops and boutiques of this historic port. Enjoy duty-free shopping for jewelry, watches, liquor, and more.

Around noon during your St. Thomas excursion, everyone will gather for the sightseeing trip to Mountain Top, rising 1547 feet above sea level. There will be plenty of opportunities along the way for pictures and taking in the scenery, including views of the white sand and crystal clear water of Magens Bay Beach, named one of the world's 10 most beautiful beaches by National Geographic magazine. While on the Mountain Top, enjoy the free lookout spot overlooking Magens Bay Beach and spectacular views of neighboring islands. Mountain Top is famous for its daiquiris and rum drinks so go right ahead and indulge (not included), and even visit their gift shop.

Your personal items will be safely secured in the vehicle while you enjoy the beach. With duty-free shopping and breathtaking sights, this is sure to be a day to remember.

Please Note: If your cruise arrives before 9:00 AM, or earlier (choose the tour that starts at 9:00 AM) If your ship arrives any time after 9.00 AM, please meet your tour guide a half hour after the ship arrives. This tour is not recommended for guests whose ships leave port at 2:00 PM or earlier since time will not allow for the beach portion. Please instead book the Shopping and Sightseeing tour. There is an additional entrance fee (not included, about $7 US per person) to visit Magen's Bay Beach, if you are planning to swim for the 2 hours.
