Full Day Island Tour By Bus, Train, Tram, and Boat

For guests who only have one day to see as much of this charming island as possible, this is a perfect choice. You will take advantage of four modes of transport during the day, coach, train, tram, and boat (weather permitting). Accompanied by an official local guide, you will see and learn about the history and culture of Mallorca.

After picking up guests at the cruise port, you will be transferred to the nearby train station. Here you will board the Ferrocarril de Soller, a wooden train that was first built in 1911 with profits from the very successful orange and lemon trade. This is the original journey and very little has changed in its 100 years of operation. The historic electric train takes a route north through the plains near Palma before climbing through the mountains and 13 tunnels before emerging at Soller

Upon arrival in Soller, you will be transferred to the tramway that runs from Soller down to the seafront, passing through the orange and lemon orchards. You will arrive in Puerto de Soller, where you will board a boat for the motoring cruise along the coast to the town of La Calobra. The journey lasts approximately 40 minutes and you will see spectacular views that cannot be seen from the land.

Upon arrival in La Calobra, you will have free time to relax and enjoy this scenic area surrounded by cliffs on three sides and a protected bay on the forth. There will be time for lunch on your own or to discover one end of the nearby Torrent de Pareis gorge. This spectacular limestone gorge stretches for approximately 4 miles, passing under jagged walls over 600 feet high, and through crevasses that are in some places only a few feet apart. Hiking the gorge is an undertaking that requires at least half a day of climbing up and down, and squeezing through tight openings.

Having arrived in La Calobra by sea, we will depart via the twisting single road from town so that you can get another perspective of this scenic area. You will proceed through the spectacular Sierra Tramuntana mountain range on the way back to Palma. As your vehicle makes its way through the valleys and passes, you will be rewarded with dramatic views of this rugged area around every turn.

Please Note: Depending on your ship's time in port and the train and boat schedule for that day, the tour may operate in a reverse order.

Not exactly what I thought it would be

In the end, we are glad we did this excursion but it was not what we were expecting. I don't think we could have coordinated seeing all of this on our own in one day from the ship. First, you are on a big tour bus with a lot of people and there are MANY other tour buses doing the same thing that you are doing. So it's crowded and lines at each stop. The place where they stop for lunch is buffet places and again lots of people and lines. Then the boat. Again huge line and waiting to get on the boat. We really liked what we got to see and the boat, train and tram were all good. Just be prepared for LOTS of people and lines. Our bus driver was awesome. The road is crazy!

Excellent tour that lived up to hype and expectations. Dramatic topography of the island was highlighted by the use of all of the means of transportation. A day well spent.

Palma de Mallorca

For the first-time visitor to the island this excursion is excellent. My only disappointment was that I did not know we would stop in Ancina Leather Factory and I did not have enough money with me to make a purchase! The guide was an interesting speaker who presented the information in two or three languages; the views were spectactular in all locations.

Great full day island tour!
October 17, 2014
The tour was very good value and well organized. It offered a lot more tour than any offered by the cruise ship. The train ride and tram ride were interesting and fun. The highlight was the boat ride along the beautiful coast and at the mouth of the canyon. The bus ride over the mountains back to Palma was jaw dropping. The only negative is that there was an unadvertised stop at a store en route back to Palma that wasted about 45 minutes of time. The shopping was terrible. If the tour operator had eliminated this stop they would have gotten a 5 star rating.

Great day with so many differed experiences. My husband is handicapped and this trip was great for him. A full day with very little walking.
