Upon pickup from your cruise port, your English-speaking guide will take you to a local rum factory where you will learn about the century-old tradition of creating flavored rum using tropical fruits, spices, and other exotic aromatics. After learning the tricks of the trade, you will enjoy a guided tour of the distillery and have the opportunity to sample several of the rum varieties. Any purchases of this rum will be at your own expense.
You will then head off to Marigot, the capital of the European Country of French St. Martin. Originally a fishing village, Marigot was declared the capital by King Louis XVI in the late 1700s. Marigot is an appealing spot with brightly colored houses, a scattering of restaurants, and lively produce and crafts markets. During your time in Marigot, you can visit old Fort Louis (built by locals in 1789 overlooking Marigot Bay and the island of Anguilla), dine, shop, explore the fresh market, and visit quaint museums and galleries. All are within short walking distance from one another.
Next, continue to the tourist area of Maho. Maho Beach is a popular attraction for aviation enthusiasts, where you will experience commercial airplanes flying just feet overhead as they land on the runway behind you. This is an exhilarating and unforgettable stop, with the added bonus of the nearby Sunset Refuge Bar for refreshments and great views.
As your trip comes to an end, you will be escorted back to your cruise ship port with truly unforgettable memories. Costs of the tour include transportation, an English-speaking guide, and entrance and tasting fees to the local rum factory.
Please Note: Must be of legal drinking age to participate in the rum tour. The purchase of food and beverages beyond the tasting is at your own expense.
