Etna Wine Experience with Taormina

Start your day from the port after being shown to your comfortable, air conditioned transportation and be introduced to your local, knowledgeable and professional tour guide. Your group is kept to a medium size and not crowded onto a large tour bus in order to provide you a more intimate and immersive experience. Your unique experience first takes you on a drive through the quaint, narrow streets while admiring the scenic landscape views and the azure-blue sea as soon you reach your first destination, the village of Taormina.

Begin your visit from Porta Catania, the southern entrance of the town, walking along the cobblestoned Corso Umberto, the main street of this famous destination. Taormina prospered in trade during the Middle Ages, and in addition to a pair of magnificent palaces, many elaborate public buildings and mansions were erected in the heart of the city. Discover the Fountain of "Minotauro," the Cathedral dedicated to S. Nicolo of Bari, the Townhall building, S. Catherine Church, the Odeon, and Palace Corvaja, together with the numerous handicraft boutiques, pastry shops, and exclusive stores. After approximately two hours, you will rejoin your tour guide and continue with a drive towards a local winery located on the Northern side of Mt. Etna.

Mt. Etna has always been the landmark of the island of Sicily, with its impressive heights and frequent eruptions. Not only an active volcano, the area is also the principal provider of Sicilian wines, citrus fruits and olive oils. At the winery you will learn all about the wine production methods used here and then taste three different delicious types. Paired together with typical products such as local cheese, salami, green olives, bruschetta and pasta alla norma, this will round out the perfect day spent in Sicily.

After you have wrapped up your time at the winery you will return to the port area where you began your day. With picturesque scenery all around you and the chance to taste local products and sample the local wines produced in Sicily, this is the ideal tour for history buffs and food and wine connoisseurs alike.
