Recommended Dress we suggest wearing a bathing suit under comfortable clothing. For climbing the falls, you need to wear shoes that will get soaked. A pair of water shoes or sneakers is recommended. You may wish to bring a second dry pair of shoes for afterwards. A towel, sunglasses, sunscreen and money for gratuities is also suggested.
Restrictions To see the falls, guests must climb down several flights of stairs to reach the first viewing area. Climbing the falls requires climbing from rock to rock against the water. As Jamaica is a mountainous island, several stops may be on inclined surfaces.

Area Highlights & Dunn's River Falls Excursion from Falmouth

Take the small group Dunn's River Falls and Ocho Rios Highlights Tour and two things are for sure: you'll escape the mob scenes, and you'll have the absolute time of your life!

This small-group tour, usually 12 or less, departs from Falmouth, and drives approximately 45 minutes east to Dunn's River Falls, roughly 600 feet above sea level, with beautiful, crystal-clear water running down the mountain into the ocean.

It takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes to climb all the way up the mountain. There are places along the way to slide down into pools of water, take a swim and climb again. For those who wish to stop climbing, there are multiple points where you can leave the falls and walk on the adjacent path. There are local "guides" at the falls who will lead you up. These guides are separate from your tour and will expect a gratuity when you reach the top.

Next, you will depart for your tour of the highlights around Ocho Rios, which includes a drive-through Fern Gully. Once a river bed, Fern Gully is now a rainforest known for its incredible biodiversity and is home to many different species of ferns, which you will see on both sides of the roadway. Your first stop will be Shaw Park Lookout. From this location, you can see across the lush 25 acres of tropical foliage in the garden (the garden itself is not visited on this Falmouth excursion) to the town of Ocho Rios, with the incredible Caribbean in the distance. You will also have an up-close look at a Banyan Tree that is over 200 years old.

You will then drive to the village of Spice Mountain, where you will observe how some of the locals live. Your driver will stop at a spice shack where you can purchase some of the local spices. After this stop, you will then drive back to Falmouth along the coast road to reach your ship.

Please Note: Climbing the falls is not recommended to guests with back or hip/knee concerns.

We had a great guide. She talked to us the whole time and kept us entertained. We enjoyed all the stops for spices, shopping, and jerk chicken!

The falls guides made sure we were safe, as this was a rushing-water experience. glad we did it! We gave our guide $10 since he was so careful, even though he could do the falls barefoot! It stretched our comfort zone but I would do it again. Then Darryl took us around the area in his van and masterfully drove nar---row roads without an accident! Can't forget our tour guide who loved Jamaica so - Alicia was very knowledgeable. The one thing hard about this tour was FINDING IT! We almost lucked onto finding Alicia; it wasn't well marked, or else we were blind.

First Time To Jamaica

Very wonderful experience. Dunns River Falls is a must. Climbing up the falls and seeing all of the beautiful foliage was an experience everyone must do. The guides at the falls were very helpful and took a genuine approach to everyone's safety and well being while climbing the falls. After the falls, the sightseeing was great as well. We had our own personal tour guide so everything was laid back and we were able to take it all in without being in a rush to get back to our cruise ship. Radcliff was wonderful in taking us on a fabulous tour and showing us things off the beaten path. Thank you for such an enjoyable time while in Jamaica.
