Florence and Pisa on Your Own

The day long journey of adventure begins as you leave the port at La Spezia for a scenic, comfortable 2 hour ride to Florence, widely considered the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance.

Once you have arrived, admire the terracotta-tiled dome of the Duomo cathedral and pop into the shops on the medieval Ponte Vecchio stone bridge. Art lovers will swoon at the chance to see such masterpieces as Michelangelo's David, da Vinci's Annunciation and Botticelli's The Birth of Venus. Enjoy approximately 3 and a half hours of free time in this lovely Renaissance Italian city.

Continue to the city of Pisa, an approximately 70 minute ride from Florence, where you will find the iconic Leaning Tower as well as the famed Piazza dei Cavalieri which was once used as the headquarters of the Knights of Saint Stephen. While here be sure to eat some cecina, a delicious gluten-free bread made of chickpea flour, water, oil and spices. You'll have about 1 hour of free time to admire the sights in Pisa before making your way back to La Spezia, about 45 minutes away.
