Full Day Tuscan Countryside and Wine Tasting
This charming tour is perfect for those who have already visited Florence and Pisa yet want to see what the true Tuscan countryside has to offer.
Board your comfortable transportation for a relaxing, scenic ride through the beautiful countryside of Tuscany as you make your way to Volterra, a small hillside town dating back to Neolithic times and used as the setting in Stephanie Meyers wildly popular Twilight series. Everything you have ever imagined Tuscany to be will come to life as you experience first-hand the beauty and charm of this part of Italy, like nowhere else on earth.
Stand in the Piazza dei Priori and be greeted by the clocktower and imposing Palazzo dei Priori, Volterra's massive 13th century town hall. Admire the remnants of the Roman theatre and the centuries-old 2,500-year-old Etruscan wall built when the town was an affluent exporter of prized materials throughout the Mediterranean basin. One of these materials, alabaster, is still carved today by skilled artisans famous for their beautiful alabaster works. Other highlights include the Pinacoteca Comunale, an art museum displaying 13th and 14th century works.
From here you will make your way to San Gimignano, stopping at a local farmhouse to learn about Tuscan wines, participate in a wine tasting, and enjoy a light lunch of traditional Tuscan fare.
As you begin to approach San Gimignano you will see what the town is known for, the watchtowers. Arrive in San Gimignano and immediately be seduced by its charm, a small walled medieval town internationally famous for 14 watchtowers that still stand today. These towers were a display of power and prosperity in medieval times, and today make fantastic photos of a Tuscany that harkens back in history. Be in awe of the historical significance as you stand in the shadows of these towers which make a statement and testament to their strength.
Walk in the footsteps of history through the streets lined with a mixture of Romanesque and Baroque architecture and check out the piazzas in the heart of the town. Conclude your time in the Tuscan countryside with a homemade gelato (at your own expense) during your ride back to port.
This very popular tour sells out fast, book now and don't miss out on discovering the true flavor of Tuscany.
This was by far the best day of our entire vacation. Francesco was so friendly and knew a lot of history, which he shared with us throughout the drive and at our stops. We had a perfect mix of being guided and given free time. He made our tour very pleasant and knew some secret sauce places to take us that average tourists wouldn’t know about. There were a few surprises he had for us which I won’t spoil for future groups! The Poggio Alloro winery was so quaint with a gorgeous view. I fell in love with both villages we went to. I posted a few pictures on trip advisor for this excursion. A tour guide has the ability to make or break an experience and Francesco truly made this day special. *note we posted a review the day after our tour but I’m not sure if it got published by the website or not. I am doing again after receiving an email asking for review because I want to make sure Francesco knew we did it right away because we were so impressed with him.

Look us up in Indiana if you ever visit the states again Francesco!

This is the tour we talk about the most. Tuscany is BEAUTIFUL, and Marco gave us an outstanding experience there. There were only four of us on the tour with him, He was an excellent driver on those narrow, winding roads, and had a great sense of when to be talking/explaining, and when to just let us enjoy wherever we were. Visiting San Gimignano (where Marco directed us to the international award-winning Gelateria - OMG delicious) and Volterra were highlights, as was the fun and enjoyable Tenuta Torciano winery tour.

Beautiful scenery. Wonderful guide.
The countryside was beautiful and the stops along the way were gorgeous. The winery/farmhouse was amazing but was all about selling products. It would have been nice to have had a little more history told to us about the area, instead we had to ask. All in all it was a wonderful experience
