Classic Lisbon Half Day Tour

Classic Lisbon Half-Day Tour
Discover this magnificent city through its history and traditions as you visit the Monuments of the Portuguese Discoveries, drive through the most historic parts of the city, and visit the city museum.
You will first travel to the Belem, quarter where you will find many beautiful monuments from the 15th and 16th centuries. A brief photo stop will be made outside the Belem Tower, a UNESCO World Heritage site, which marks the point of departure of some of the Portuguese maritime explorations. You will also see the nearby Monument to the Discoveries (Padrao dos Descobrimentos), built to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the 'death' of Prince Henry the Navigator.
Next, you will visit the Church of S. Jerome Monastery, another UNESCO World Heritage site and a masterpiece of the Manueline style of architecture. You will then visit the Coach Museum (Museu dos Coches), housed in the old Horse Riding Arena of the former Royal Palace, now the official residence of the President of Portugal. It is home to one of the most important collections of old carriages in the world.
Following the river, you will drive to the Alfama, an old and traditional district, where you will have the opportunity to walk on its narrow cobblestone streets and visit a handicraft shop. There you'll have the opportunity to taste an aperitif of Port wine.
A drive through the downtown (Baixa) area will allow you to admire the most important squares of Lisbon, such as the monumental Trade Square (Praca do Comercio ), Rossio Square, the heart of Lisbon, and the symbolic Restauradores Square.
You will then be driven along Liberdade Avenue, the boulevard of Lisbon, and finish at Pombal Square with the statue of the statesman from the 18th century.
Please Note: On Mondays, the S. Jerome Monastery and the Coach Museum are closed, and will be replaced with a visit to the Ajuda National Palace or the museum Medeiros e Almeida. This tour ends at the Alfama quarter which is 10 minutes from the cruise ship pier for guests who would like to further explore the old town.
