Half Day Tour to Piran

Situated between Italy and Croatia, this small Slovenian coastline contains an immeasurable amount of beautiful sights all along its 27 miles. Explore quaint and beautiful Piran at your own pace on this self-guided tour.

Start your half-day introduction of this coastal region by taking panoramic photos of the Gulf of Trieste from a scenic spot above the town of Izola. This is an old fishing town and a municipality in southwestern Slovenia on the Adriatic coast of the Istrian peninsula and the name originates from the Italian Isola, which means 'island'.

From there you will head to the charming village of Piran, the oldest and best-preserved town in Slovenia. You will have 2 hours of free time in Piran on your own, and you will quickly appreciate why this 15th century village is commonly referred to as a museum town. Walk along a labyrinth of narrow, cobbled streets and admire the charming Venetian architecture. Piran offers plenty of historical churches, inviting cafes and a picture-perfect port to satisfy culture and photography buffs.

From there you will pass Portoroz, a lovely coastal village once known commercially for its nearby salt pans that today provide refuge for multiple birds and wildlife. Today, this village is one of the biggest tourist resorts in Slovenia with exquisite beaches, hotels and a vibrant nightlife.

Continue your scenic ride back to Koper filled with traditional villages, farms and olive groves. Throughout the tour your friendly, entertaining and knowledgeable guide will share with you fascinating facts and stories about Slovenia's history, culture and people.
