Hoonah City and Craft Brewery Tour
Hoonah City and Craft Brewery Tour
This 2-hour tour is a perfect introduction to the small, close-knit village of Hoonah located on Chichagof Island, the 5th largest in the United States.
This unique tour starts with a short but scenic ride to the largest Tlingit settlement in Alaska. Hoonah is many things in a small package: a lively fishing village, an old logging town and a beautiful place to visit. Your friendly guide will take you on an excursion through this fishing village, stopping along the way for photo opportunities while giving you information about living in Alaska and living off the land. Learn how the early Tlingit Indians migrated from the shores of Glacier Bay and how the entire village of Hoonah burned down in 1944.
Discover how the village almost doubles in size over the summer months as a myriad of fishers, boaters, hunters and hikers flock to the area to take advantage of the abundant wildlife and gorgeous nature settings.
Following the city tour, you are next off to Icy Strait Brewing, one of South East Alaska's hidden treasures. Using the crystal-clear water from the mountain streams of Chichagof Island, Icy Strait Brewing crafts several styles of beer on site. Guests 21 and older will be given a token good for a flight of 3 (Light, Medium and Dark) beers, and sampling of fresh popcorn seasoned with a locally sourced kelp blend.
Book now and get ready to immerse yourself in the beauty and culture that is Hoonah and Alaska and have a true and delicious taste of the region!
