Exclusive Horseback and Falls

Take our Dunn's River Falls and Beach Horseback Riding Ocho Rios Tour and two things are certain: you'll have the time of your life, and you'll never want to return to civilization!

After being picked up at the pier, you will drive to the corral. Saddle up and set out with your trained tour guide for a scenic countryside trail ride through wooded areas, where the Taino Indians used to hunt for food. Learn about the culture of these first islanders - their beliefs, habits and existence - before Columbus landed and the island was colonized under the Spanish flag.

Ride through a natural wetland, shaded by almond and coconut trees, and see the excavations carried out by archaeologists keen to uncover the deep-rooted history of this area.

On arrival at a stretch of deserted beach, you will strip down to your bathing suits, while the saddles are removed from the horses. You will then set out on a bareback horse ride experience in the Caribbean Sea, an experience not to be missed. Total time with the horses is approximately 90 minutes. Time in the water is approximately 10-15 minutes.

The return ride takes you along the deserted beach, where herons and other water birds fish in the shallow waters through the mangroves, which hide the remains of an 18th-century warehouse. Look for an ancient waterwheel that powered the old sugar mill on this former sugar plantation.

You will then drive to Dunn's River Falls. The falls drop in a cascade (or steps) from a height of 600 feet down to sea level. They are constantly fed by beautiful, crystal-clear water running down from the nearby mountains and rainforest. It takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes to make the entire climb. There are places along the way to slide down into pools of water, take a swim and climb again. There are local "guides" at the falls who will lead you up. These guides are separate from your tour and will expect a gratuity when you reach the top.

Please Note: A photo CD is available to purchase on the day of the tour; however, it is not recommended to purchase the CD as the quality of photos cannot be guaranteed and it is non-refundable. Instead, please feel free to bring a camera with you to capture your own memories. No refunds will be issued once a photo CD has been purchased.

Although there are changing facilities at the falls, we suggest wearing your swimming suit under comfortable beach clothing. Water shoes can be rented at the falls if you do not have sneakers or your own water shoes. Flip flops are not recommended. Climbing the falls is not recommended to guests with back or hip/knee concerns.

Great time

Both my girlfriend and I really enjoyed the The Horseback excursion. The guides we very good, informative, funny and knowledgeable. The pictures we got from this turned out great. The Falls was a little different since it was just my girlfriend and I. Wish we had a larger group to climb the falls with but we enjoyed it. I would do it again.

Amazing Experience
April 20, 2015
A tour bus takes you to The Horseback riding.IT was the most fun and relaxing experience ever. I had never been on a horse before and the staff was ever so helpful in helping me feel comfortable on the horse. The horses are well trained on the route to take and once you get passed how big they are compared to you, it will be fun. Riding through the jungle to the beach was calming as well. Horses walk at a good pace and Run once you hit the ocean. There's a break in-between the riding of the jungle and riding in the ocean to give you and the horses a break. They offer deals on picture packages for $15 and you get all your pictures from the event. Worth the money. The bus then comes back and takes you to The Dunns River Falls was very wet and slippery. Human chains is what is used for everyone in your group to climb up the falls. Teamwork is keep and locking hands with people helps as well. The time we went however was very crowded. There was like 5 groups of 20-30 people in each group. Well worth it though. You feel better accomplished knowing you climbed a waterfall from the bottom to the top with well over 900+ ft. I was so tired but satisfied knowing I did that.
