Jameos del Agua Volcanic Cave System
The part-nature, part-art setting of the Jameos del Agua is a feast for the eyes! This unique place is located inside a lava tube caused by the eruption of the Monte Corona volcano over 4,000 years ago. The collapse of the tube's roof illuminates the subterranean salt lake inside, making it a stunning place for dinner and concerts.
Your visit takes you into the tube to see the interplay between nature and the art modifications created by local artist and architect Cesar Manrique that takes the cave experience to a whole new level! Take a walk through the cave with its bar, restaurant, museum, auditorium, and emerald green swimming pool, and keep an eye out for the blind squat lobsters. These tiny creatures are less than 1 centimeter in length and are very sensitive to sound and light.
