King Crab Experience

If you've seen "The Deadliest Catch" you've watched the crabbing crews bringing their catch to shore and placing their crabs into special tanks for weighing. During this tour, you will see what happens next for the infamous king crab.

Originally native to Russia, these crabs have migrated across the northern Norwegian coastline over the past century and can measure up to 2 meters between the claws (legs)!

The adventure begins as you board the minibus directly at the pier in Honningsvag for a comfortable, scenic ride to Sarnes. Here you will be greeted by the camp hosts who will escort you down to the pier to see live crab crawling around in the tanks. Hold up a crab and smile for your new profile picture as you learn all about this fascinating crustacean.

Learn techniques for preparation as well as facts about the king crab. You will next enter the small restaurant and sit down to be rewarded with a meal of the king crab, sink your teeth into the delicious crab meat along with a side of bread, lemon and mayonnaise. Mineral water is included with your meal and you will have the option to purchase beer or wine.

Following the meal you will relax with coffee, tea, and biscuits and inhale the salty air as you watch the boats coming and going from the pier before your picturesque return trip back to port.

Book this tour now to experience king crab like never before!

The absolute best tour In Honningsvag. A must do. Absolutely gorgeous area, they pick you up by van. The awesome tour, and you get to eat a lot of fresh King Crab that you get to choose live. Eat in a beautiful teepee type building around a fire. An expensive lunch but worth every penny. This is the one you want to do.

The highlight event of our Viking cruise
July 24, 2022
We were met by the very knowledgeable young lady, Ingot, and driven to the the location for the King Crab Feast. She quickly held our attention when the largest crab we had ever seen was described in detail how powerful the claws and legs operated. She pointed out where they caught them nearby and kept them alive fresh for our feast. All of our many questions were answered as she prepared this giant crab for the cooker. We entered the Sami like teepee lined with knotty pine with a indoor fire pit and circled by many tables for larger groups. We were a group of 4 and felt so fortunate to experience the fresh taste of the finest crab meat I have ever eaten. Ingot demonstrated how the neon lights could give the effect of Northern lights. Every thing was so neat and clean! We truly had a king crab feast. Good memories as she drove us back to the Viking ship which expected us to board by 4pm.

King Crab Experience

This turned out to be better than we expected! It was a little hard to find the place we were to meet for the trip to the crab waters, but once we were on our way it was great. A nice Mercedes van took us on a drive to the area for the crabs and a young lady told us all about the process. There were 4 of us on the trip and we got to eat the entire 4 lb. crab.
