Kona Coffee and Cloud Forest
Experience the best of Kona's natural beauty, flavors, and wildlife on this immersive small-group adventure. This guided tour takes you from the ocean's edge to the clouds, with plenty of delicious stops along the way.
Start your journey with a peaceful walk through Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park, home to native birds, a traditional Hawaiian fish trap, and often, resting Hawaiian green sea turtles. Enjoy the coastal breeze as you learn about this culturally rich and ecologically protected site.
Next, head to a lush coffee farm nestled on the slopes above Kona. At Doutor Mauka Meadows (or Greenwell Coffee Plantation on weekends), stroll through vibrant gardens blooming with tropical fruit and flowers, and get a behind-the-scenes look at how 100 % Kona Coffee is grown, harvested, and brewed. Sample freshly roasted coffee while taking in sweeping ocean views from a serene hilltop rest area. Admission to the coffee plantation is included in the tour.
From there, it's time to relax and indulge at Holualoa Garden and Kitchen, where you'll enjoy a fresh, locally inspired lunch crafted by a top island chef (not included). Surrounded by greenery and coastal views, this stop captures the essence of Kona's farm-to-table charm. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are available.
Finally, take a guided walk through the rare and misty Kona Cloud Forest Sanctuary, a unique ecosystem that makes up less than 1 percent of the forests on Earth. Wander through towering trees, exotic plants, and possibly a few familiar spots from Hollywood films like Avatar. Your naturalist guide will bring this cool, high-elevation environment to life as you explore its hidden wonders. Entry to the Kona Cloud Forest is also included in the tour.
