Private Simpson Bay Bike to Marigot
Private Biking Excursion to Marigot from Simpson Bay
After making your way to Simpson Bay, you and your private group of 4-10 guests will meet your guide for this cultural ride. Once you are set, you will depart from Simpson Bay and head towards Cole Bay, about a mile away. Your will have a short stop at the Border Monument, separating the Dutch Side from the French side, where you can earn bragging rights that you cycled through 2 countries in one day!! Your guide, will explain about the Concordi Treaty which was signed in the 1600s and serves to this day as an amicable agreement between the French and Dutch Side of St. Maarten.
Continue riding along to Marigot, the French Capital, where you will explore the local market, savoring the sights, smells and sounds of a traditional Caribbean market. Your guide will lead you on a short hike up to the historic Fort Louis, once a strategic fortress protecting the bay of Marigot. Today, it lazily watches over the capital, offering magnificent views of the town, the bay and the British neighboring island of Anguilla.
You then return to Simpson Bay via the same route through Cole Bay. Another option that will be offered to the group, based on time and physical ability of the group, is cycling back to Simpson Bay via an alternate route, circling the Lagoon, and viewing some spectacular beaches along the way. Please note: this route adds an additional 5 miles (approx. 40 mins), and everyone in the group must have the time and stamina (legs) for it. There is no additional charge if the group agrees on this route.
This St. Maarten excursion requires a minimum of four participants to operate.
