Discover the Misty Fjords National Monument
The Misty Fjords National Monument has been carved to impressive perfection by millions of years of glacial activity. On this popular flightseeing Ketchikan day tour, it will take you only the blink of an eye to appreciate nature's handiwork.
The Misty Fjords National Monument is a 2.3-million acre piece of pristine wilderness that must be viewed by floatplane to truly take in its majesty: soaring cliffs, saw-tooth ridges blanketed in trademark mists, sky-blue lakes, endless waterfalls, icy saltwater fjords and miles of glacier-carved gorges.
While you take in the enormity of the Misty Fjords National Monument from above, you will listen to information on the area, as well as appropriate music over your noise-reducing headphones. While taking you on the most scenic flight possible based on that day's weather conditions, your pilot will keep an eye open for wildlife below. While wildlife spotting is never guaranteed on the Ketchikan tour, keep scanning the scenery below, where you may see creatures big and small, from burly brown bears to agile mountain goats; from harbor seals to humpback whales. Depending on the visibility that day, your pilot usually tries to stay approximately 1000 feet above the scenery, offering you the best up-close view from a safe distance. Maximum altitude reached is approximately 4,000 feet above sea level. A water landing on a mountain lake for photos and reflection is included.
The Spectacular Misty Fjords Tour in Ketchikan is a must-see flightseeing experience that will provide a lifetime of memories.
For safety reasons, talking to the pilot during the flight is not possible. Questions can be asked while at the lake landing and after the flight.
Total flying time, including the water landing time, is approximately 1.5 hours.
Please Note: Large bags and backpacks are not permitted on the aircraft, but can be safely stored in the office. Small purses can be brought on board the plane.

We saw a Grizzly clamming on shore as we landed on the fjord! Great flight, but after the helicopter, we realized how much greater visibility there is in a helicopter.

This was a wonderful experience. The pilot was very professional, we had a perfectly clear day for flying, and we were very safe. It was difficult to hear the pilot through the head phones but everything else was spectacular.

We bought this excursion for our 22 year old grandson that was on an Alaskan cruise with us. He had not been to Alaska previously and never on a seaplane. We bought this excursion through Costco as it was longer and less expensive than one offered by the cruise line. Our grandson flew in the co-pilot's seat and thoroughly enjoyed the trip, although his headset had some problems and it was difficult to listen to the pilot. They didn't see a lot of wildlife but he thought the scenery was awesome. They did land during the trip and each passenger got out of the plane on a pontoon for a photo. Very happy we purchased this excursion.

We loved it! Our pilot was very experienced and showed us everything he could find. We made a silken landing on Rudyard Bay and took off again just as smoothly. It was fabulous!

Every aspect of this excursion was great. I have to totally agree with all of the positive comments in the previous reviews. Friendly, professional staff and pilot made the experience fun and worry-free (female, traveling solo, first flight like this - no problem). The scenery is spectacular, especially the aerial views of the waterfalls. The undisturbed quiet of the remote lake was a peaceful experience like no other. A great way to learn about explore this part of Alaska!
