Discover Misty Fjords National Monument by Floatplane
The Misty Fjords National Monument in Alaska has been carved to impressive perfection by millions of years of glacial activity. On this popular flightseeing Ketchikan day tour, it will take you only the blink of an eye to appreciate nature's handiwork.
The Misty Fjords National Monument is a 2.3-million acre piece of pristine wilderness that must be viewed by floatplane to truly take in its majesty: soaring cliffs, saw-tooth ridges blanketed in trademark mists, sky-blue lakes, endless waterfalls, icy saltwater fjords and miles of glacier-carved gorges.
While you take in the enormity of the Misty Fjords National Monument from above, you will listen to information on the area, as well as appropriate music over your noise-reducing headphones. While taking you on the most scenic flight possible based on that day's weather conditions, your pilot will keep an eye open for wildlife below. While wildlife spotting is never guaranteed on the Ketchikan tour, keep scanning the scenery below, where you may see creatures big and small, from burly brown bears to agile mountain goats; from harbor seals to humpback whales. Depending on the visibility that day, your pilot usually tries to stay approximately 1000 feet above the scenery, offering you the best up-close view from a safe distance. Maximum altitude reached is approximately 4,000 feet above sea level. A water landing on a mountain lake for photos and reflection is included.
The Spectacular Misty Fjords Flightseeing Tour in Ketchikan is a must-see experience that will provide a lifetime of memories.
For safety reasons, talking to the pilot during the flight is not possible. Questions can be asked while at the lake landing and after the flight.
Total flying time, including the water landing time, is approximately 1.5 hours.
Please Note: Large bags and backpacks are not permitted on the aircraft, but can be safely stored in the office. Small purses can be brought on board the plane.

It was all good. The people were nice and well informed. The plane was clean and well maintained. The scenery was totally amazing and you couldn’t really experience this part of the world any other way. We loved it!

The fjords were not misty this beautiful day but it allowed us to see and fly differently than if it were. First time on a float plane and it was wonder-full!

The sea-plane excursion over the Misty Fjords will remain etched in our memories for a long time to come. It was wonderful, exhilarating and humbling at the same time to see the beautiful work of nature. Our Pilot was great...knowledgeable and nice. He landed on the water near a virgin island and also once swerved around quickly to show us a mountain goat on snow, both were great fun! This is definitely a must-do!

Excellent. Well worth the expense. Flight was almost 90 mins. Flew over mountains and skimmed over lakes, landing in one for a short while, before taking off again. Would definitely recommend. Some people were still worried about safety following two recent fatal accidents.
