Best of Big Island and Volcanoes National Park

Join us on this tour of magnificent Volcanoes National Park. This tour highlights some of the Big Island's most precious gems, such as rainforest waterfalls, orchids, black sand beaches, craters, lava tubes, and much more!

First pass through the historic town of Hilo and stop by a breathtaking 80 ft waterfall, Rainbow Falls. Then make your way to the summit of Kilauea volcano at the Volcanoes National Park, the most highly regarded and revered volcanic area on Earth. The park dramatically displays the results of 70 million years of volcanism, migration, and evolution - processes that thrust a bare land from the sea and clothed it with unique ecosystems, and a distinct human culture. The park highlights two of the world's most active volcanoes, Kilauea and Mauna Loa, and offers insights on the birth of the Hawaiian Islands and views of dramatic volcanic landscapes.

At the park, you will stop at the Visitor Center, see the highly acclaimed Jaggar Museum, and witness the spectacular Thurston Lava Tube, steam vents, sulfur banks, and fascinating scenic lookouts. No trip to Hawaii is complete without a trip to Volcanoes National Park.

Your next stop will be the Akatsuka Orchid Garden, which displays more than 500 orchids. Some are valued at more than $20,000 US! Hawaii is one of the largest producers of macadamia nuts, and you will get to drive through the orchard and visit the farm. Here you can see the production and taste many different types of flavored macadamia nuts.

The last stop is the Richardson Black Sand Beach, where sea turtles are usually spotted. The Black Sand Beach is a local favorite, and is a great way to see how the ocean and volcanoes make fine black sand. You will enjoy the spectacular views on your drive back to the port.

4 StarsA full day of sights!February 17, 2020

Giovanni, our guide, was very knowledgeable about the island. He was a pleasant guide and kept us on schedule. Visiting Volcano National Park was one of the highlights of the tour. The tour bus was comfortable. I don't remember the exact number of people on the tour, it was either 23 or 33. The group was manageable but would have been easier if smaller number. There were 7 different stops although Volcanoes National Park included 3 venues. With so many stops there wasn't much time allotted at some and some were just the right amount of time. Some places such as the Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Factory seemed rush probably because a large number of people visiting and we were not able to find out information about the facility or walk around. Our lunch stop was at WikiFresh which was decent. The stop at Rainbow Falls was beautiful and a popular tourist stop. Overall, the tour was pleasant and interesting.

Friendly and interesting tour guide who made our excursion fun! Less expensive and more inclusive than excursions offered by the cruise line. Big new beautiful bus. Meeting place accurate and convenient. It’s a win-win!

I was a little disappointed that we did not get to see the active volcano just one that was inactive but the drive was great and the guide did a great job

We enjoyed the tour our driver/guide Chris was very good, informative and friendly. The tour was full and worth the cost. Our only concern was return time after the tour. Being it was not a Princess tour, we would have preferred to be back at the ship with more than 15 minutes to spare; although I imagine they were trying to give us the most for our money.

3 StarsOverall a good tourJanuary 27, 2020

Overall, the tour guide did a good job showing a part of the big island. I wish we could spend more time at the national volcano park.
