Old Tallinn on Foot

If you desire to see the bevy of historical landmarks in Tallinn, strolling to them is ideal. You'll begin this tour visiting Old Town, seeing the Stout Margaret Tower, St. Brigit's Monastery, and the Church of the Holy Ghost prior to visiting Alexander Nevsky Orthodox Cathedral and the Parliament building (Castle) in the Upper Town. Travelers interested in historical landmarks and unique alcohol tastings will enjoy this tour.

A two mile long wall from the 13th Century is still surrounding Old Town of Tallinn. It is listed in UNESCO as the best preserved old town in the Northern Europe. Since the 18th century, Tallinn has produced and distributed a variety of spirits.

Your learned guide will share Tallinn's landmarks. First, you'll see Stout Margaret Towers, large round structures that guarded the main entrance of Old Town during the 16th century. Today, you can buy coffee from the cafe to the left of the gate.

Next, you'll visit St. Brigit's Monastery. This 15th-century covenant is special because its ruins once housed monks and nuns.

The old town consists of two parts, Lower Town and Upper Town. Visit Toompea Castle, the grand structure housing Estonia's Parliament, prior to reaching the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the largest and most grand Orthodox cathedral in Tallinn. Just down the road is the oldest pharmacy in the world.

Thereafter, enjoy free time to stroll the area before returning to the pier. Reserve this Tallin tour to see some remarkable sights.

Please Note: The tour ends in central Tallinn, to give you the opportunity to explore or shop at your leisure after the tour. It is about a 15 minute walk, or a 5 minute taxi ride (not included in the price of your tour, approximately 15 EUR), from the cruise pier.

Bus and Walking Tour!
October 20, 2019
We didn't know that a 2 hour bus tour was included in this tour so that was a bonus. We had to wait 25 minutes on bus for people that didn't show, eventually left with just 10 of us which was fine! Bus was relaxing way to see areas that we could not have walked to. Our guide, Yuli, spoke English well and had great information on the Historic Tallinn. Well worth the time and money spent!

Well worth the price

This excursion had a small van pick up at the dock and rode around the city, which was unexpected from the title "Old Tallinn on foot". It was and unexpected nice addition to the guided tour actually "on foot" in the old town. Well worth the money

Mother Nature Not Kind
May 23, 2019
It could have been a very good tour had it not been for the near continuous rain. Tallinn is truely a very pretty and interesting city if only we had the time to enjoy the place. Instead, we had to use the time to avoid the very wet weather. Nevertheless, the tour guide did her best did not short changed us. She gave everything except the sun.

Amazing fairy city
August 29, 2018
I enjoyed the tour a lot. Our guide met us by the pier. We had a 10 minutes walk to the old city. Julia had good information and spent enough time for explaining each part if the old city which was amazingly intact from 13th century and gave you the impression of a fairy city. The price of tour also was reasonable. I enjoyed a lot.
