Savor the best of Palermo on a relaxed food and wine walking tour that turns your day in port into a full Sicilian feast. This relaxed culinary experience combines local cuisine, Sicilian wine, and cultural storytelling just minutes from the Palermo cruise port.
Your food adventure begins along elegant Via Principe di Belmonte, a beautiful pedestrian street only a few minutes from the Palermo cruise port and close to the city's famous opera houses. Here you will meet your licensed local guide, a true Palermitan who sets the tone for a laid back yet insightful journey through the historic center. Your first stop is a hidden family run deli that locals love but most visitors never find, where you taste a refined delicacy from old noble cuisine and sip your first glass of Sicilian wine.
As you stroll toward the old town, your guide points out monuments, shares stories about Palermo's layered history, and leads you into backstreets you would not explore on your own. You will sample classics like caponata, fine tuna bottarga, and other savory specialties before settling into a reserved table at a traditional trattoria in downtown Palermo. Here you enjoy a real Sicilian meal with three vegetable appetizers, two types of pasta including iconic pasta con le sarde, and more homemade recipes, paired with additional glasses of local wine.
The walk continues through atmospheric lanes and past the lively Vucciria area, with a charming stop at a secondhand street bookshop, then on to an old taverna to pair unique Sicilian cheeses with wine. The grand finale is dessert at a historic monastery or pastry shop for the best cannolo, cassatella, gelato, or seasonal sweet of the day. The amount of food served comfortably replaces a full meal, making this tour excellent value compared with dining independently.
The experience lasts about four hours. Three glasses of Sicilian fine wine, generous food tastings, a seasonal dessert, and licensed guide services are included. Please inform Streaty of any food allergies at the time of booking. Vegan and kosher options are not available. To reduce plastic waste, guests are encouraged to bring a refillable water bottle that can be topped up at public fountains along the route.
