Meet your local, knowledgeable, and professional private guide for a short drive to Ancient Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic games. Upon arrival, you will have time to explore the park-like grounds and imagine what it must have been like as an athlete or a spectator here 2,500 years ago. See the magnificent ruins of the Temple of Zeus, the Stadium, and much more as your guide explains the history and importance of the area and its structures.

Afterward, it's time for a scenic ride through western and central Peloponnese, commonly referred to as the Tuscany of Greece due to its peaceful and impressive landscape. Arrive at Lagkadia, a beautiful village built amphitheatrically on a very steep slope about 950m above sea level. This city's architectural design took advantage of the local topography for defense purposes, which gives the village the amazing effect of a cascade of stone houses rolling down the hill into the central square. The numerous historical buildings including the Taxiarches church, High School, Deligiannis Mansion, and the church of Agioi Apostoli further testify to the highly skilled craftsmanship of the stone and construction workers of that time.

From there you will be taken to a traditional taverna to sample a wide range of Greek fare with fresh ingredients including stuffed vine leaves, saganaki fried cheese or Greek salad, meat and potatoes, and baklava before your return trip to port. Once back at Katakolon you will have some free time to stroll the little port and pick up a few souvenirs before boarding your ship.

This very special and private full-day tour is a must-do for architectural lovers and fans of the Olympic games! Book now.
