Private Dominica Birding Tour
The island of Dominica is full of many ideal and natural outdoor attractions, making for a perfect place to discover bird watching. Tropical forests gently slope downward to bush and the drier savannas before dropping into the water at the shoreline, while rugged and lush mountain rise high all around you.
On this very exclusive and private tour, along with your personal guide, you will drive along coastal villages while learning about the history and culture of the island. After driving through the village of Dublanc you will then enjoy a 2.5-mile drive into the rainforest while stopping at various viewing areas to catch a glimpse of birding activity.
Make your way to the Syndicate Visitors Centre where you will start the Syndicate Trail with the hopes of spotting the Sisserou and Jaco Parrots, both endemic to the island. The number of known bird species to be seen in Dominica during the various seasons of the year totals 167, including 4 types of native hummingbirds. The parrots (unique to Dominica) are most commonly sighted in the Syndicate Forest area on the western slopes of the Morne Diablotin National Park.
Your hike will take you on dirt trails through the lush forest with your guide stopping whenever there is a bird sighting opportunity. Along the trail the guide will try and identify as many birds as possible before arriving at the viewpoint where you can stand or sit to enjoy the view while looking out for the famed Sisserou Parrots.
