Private Grenada's Spice Route

This very special private, half-day tour will give you an intimate look beyond the traditional tourist side of the island of Grenada and its landscape, people, and products. You will soon discover for yourself why the island is referred to as "The Island of Spice".

Admire the drive to the beautifully cascading Concord Falls, the unspoiled nature surrounding the waterfall and the clear pool of water below. Take some time to further explore and capture stunning photos! Quality spices can be purchased at the spice shop, before continuing your voyage around this beautiful island.

Begin your day with a comfortable, 45-minute drive along the picturesque west coast that takes you to the fishing town of Gouyave. Where 50% of the islands fish is caught!

Your first stop on the Spice Tour will be through Dougaldston Estate to the plantations that sustain the environmental wealth of Grenada. Dating back to the 1600's, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, cocoa and bananas have all been major crops produced on the island. While you walk these grounds, immerse yourself in the culture and history of Grenada, see, smell and touch the spices, discover why the island is often referred to as "the spice of the Caribbean."

Continue your journey with a drive to the lush volcanic mountains of, Grand Etang Rainforest. Where you can take some time to absorb the beauty of natural Grenada. Peeking out of the vegetation, you will spot the Crater Lake glistening among the hills surrounding it. This lake is an extinct volcano that was once responsible for forming the island of Grenada. Time will also be taken to see if we can attract some of the mona monkeys, which are unique to Grenada in the western Hemisphere.

This private tour option affords you a very up-close and personal look into Grenadian life and what makes this beautiful island so special.

What a great excursion!

We got a private taxi excursion with Cliff and he was fantastic and made us feel very welcome and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed his company throughout the day and all of his wisdom about the island. We would highly, highly recommend Cliff and we will get a private taxi with him again when we go back! Thanks Shore Excursions!
