Private Ocoa Natural Hike

Escape the hustle and bustle of city life with this Santiago hiking tour that takes you to one of Chile's scenic national parks. This Ocoa hiking tour gives you the chance to see some of the country's extensive wildlife and flora with new friends and a knowledgeable guide at your side.

Your Ocoa Valley hiking tour starts at 9:00 a.m. when you set out for La Campana National Park. Before arriving at the park, you will make a quick pit stop to pick up snacks like fruit and bread for your trek. La Campana National Park spans 17,600 acres and has been declared a biosphere reserve by UNESCO, a specialized agency of the United Nations. The park is home to Cerro La Campana, an impressive mountain that was climbed by noted English naturalist Charles Darwin in 1834.

The first stop on your hike of Ocoa Valley will be a forest lookout. There you can get a glimpse of the Chilean wine palm, an endangered palm species, whose numbers have dwindled because of human overpopulation as well as harvesting; this type of palm requires that the whole tree be cut to collect its sap. Following this lookout, you'll continue your walk for about two hours before taking a lunch break.

Your waterfall-side lunch offers the perfect opportunity to relax and take photos of this unique micro-climate in the Ocoa Valley. This valley is an archaeologist's paradise; the site has yielded several artifacts from pre-European contact eras. After finishing your lunch, you'll make the trek back to your transport and return to Santiago to conclude your Chile hiking tour.
