Private Porec and Rovinj

The Istrian Peninsula of Croatia, on the Adriatic Sea, has a Mediterranean climate and a rich cultural history reflecting its location between east and west.

On this tour, you will enjoy an hour and a half panoramic drive from the port through the Ucka Tunnel and across the Istrian countryside to the town of Porec. This nearly 2,000-year-old town is set on a protected harbor and is one of the most popular resorts in Croatia. It was once part of the Roman Empire, the Byzantine Empire, the Habsburg Monarchy, the Kingdom of Italy, and the country of Yugoslavia before Croatia's independence in 1991.

Stroll through the oldest part of town to Marafor Square - an ancient Roman plaza - where you can see the ruins of two Roman temples as well as Gothic and Baroque structures and the Istrian Parliament Building.

In Porec's Old Town, visit the famous Basilica of Euphrasius - a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an exceptional example of religious art and architecture. This Byzantine structure, with fantastic wall mosaics depicting biblical scenes, was rebuilt in the 6th century. Climb to the top of the belfry for panoramic vistas of the old town below.

Just 45 minutes away, discover Rovinj - surely one of the most romantic little towns in Croatia. Rovinj is a late-medieval town with strong Venetian influences and a long tradition of fishing. Walk with your guide down cobblestone streets, includes the famous Grisia Street, - the road of artists - with cascading steps that lead to the church of St Euphemia. You'll visit the Town Square, the Farmers' Market, and Balbi's Arch.

Entrance fees included for Porec: Euphrasian Basilica and also Rovinj; Church of St. Euphemia.
