Private Ronda
Private Ronda
Ronda retains much of its historic charm, particularly in its old town and is famous worldwide for its dramatic escarpments and views, and for the deep El Tajo gorge that carries the Rio Guadalevín through its center. Admire scenic views of the Andalusian countryside as you take a comfortable drive to Ronda, an ancient city in Andalusia dating back to the 6th century BC.
Arrive at El Tajo Gorge and grab a photo or two of the iconic Puente Nuevo Bridge that spans the gorge, connecting the two distinctly different parts of Ronda together. Take some time to explore this charming city with its beautiful Plaza de Espana, as well as the Church of Saint Mary the Elder and the Church of the Holy Spirit. Sit in the stands at the Plaza de Toros, the oldest bullring in Spain and learn all about bullfighting traditions in the nearby museum.
From there you will cross over the Puente Nuevo Bridge to explore the Moorish side of Ronda with its beautiful countryside and ancient relics. Stop at the Arab Baths, built in the 13th century for Muslims to purify themselves before entering the city gates. At the Palacio de Mondragon, you can see the former residence of Moorish King Abomelik, King Ferdinand and Queen Isabelle.
Make your way next to the beautiful Jardines de Cuenca on the edges of the El Tajo Gorge and be rewarded with breathtaking views of the city and countryside below. Not to be missed are the impressive 14th century Church of Santa Maria la Mayor and Church of the Holy Spirit. The former church was originally a mosque and the latter is now the city's unofficial cathedral.
