Private Pyramids Along the Nile
Leave Alexandria behind and journey across Egypt's desert landscape to Africa's largest city, Cairo, on this full-day private adventure. Your scenic drive of approximately three hours brings you to some of the world's most iconic treasures.
Your first stop is the acclaimed Grand Egyptian Museum, home to the greatest collection of Egyptian antiquities anywhere in the world. With more than 120,000 artifacts spanning from 2700 B.C. to the 6th century A.D., the museum offers a fascinating look into Egypt's ancient past. Highlights include the renowned King Tutankhamun Gallery, where you'll see the boy king's golden mask and priceless treasures up close.
Next, enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant before continuing to the legendary Giza Plateau, where the last surviving Wonder of the Ancient World still stands. Marvel at the three magnificent Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren, and Mycerinus. You will have time for photographs and may even choose to enter Chephren's or Mycerinus Pyramid for an additional fee.
Nearby, gaze upon the enigmatic Great Sphinx, carved from solid bedrock nearly 4,700 years ago. You'll then stop at the Papyrus Institute to learn how ancient Egyptians transformed Nile reeds into paper, followed by a short opportunity to browse an adjacent bazaar for authentic souvenirs.
To conclude your day, step aboard a traditional felucca sailboat and glide along the legendary Nile River, taking in the tranquil views from the water before beginning your return journey to Alexandria.
Please note: In the area of the Museum and the Pyramids, regular cameras may be utilized without a fee, but are not permitted inside the Chephren or Mycerinus Pyramids. The visit inside the pyramid includes numerous steps, ramps, narrow passageways, and low ceilings. There is no air conditioning, and the air is musty. Guests must be in good physical shape. Guests with respiratory challenges should not participate in the internal visit.
Due to the opening hours at the sites involved, this tour is only available at the times listed. On the 6:00 am departure, the visit to the Egyptian Museum will be before lunch. The tour will return to Alexandria at approximately 7:30 pm.
