Begin with a brief sightseeing drive through historic Puerto Limón, where Christopher Columbus first landed in Costa Rica in 1502, before continuing approximately one hour to Cahuita National Park. Established in 1970 to protect the country's largest coral reef and surrounding rainforest, the park is home to an incredible variety of wildlife. Enjoy a leisurely 45-minute guided nature walk along a flat, shaded coastal trail in search of sloths, monkeys, iguanas, toucans, colorful tropical frogs, and many other native species. This easy walk is suitable for guests of all ages.

Next, visit Prospect Plantation to learn about Costa Rica's agricultural traditions, including bananas, cacao, coffee, pineapples, and other tropical crops. You'll also have time to browse locally crafted souvenirs and purchase authentic Caribbean refreshments if you wish.
