Rhodes Walking Tour and Grand Master's Palace
Your day of exploration begins as you depart the port on foot and enter the Old City of Rhodes through the Lady of Burg Gate. Be sure to have your camera in hand as you pass by traditional fountains, oriental motifs, Byzantine churches and much more as you wind your way through the city. Stroll up the wide Socratus Street with its array of shops and pass by the Mosque of Suleiman, built in 1522 following the Ottoman conquest of Rhodes.
At the highest point of the city you will reach the Palace of the Grand Master, a square, Gothic castle dominating the harbor. Erected in the 7th century as a Byzantine citadel, this structure was converted into an administrative center and palace for the Grand Master of the Knights Hospitaller and later used as a command center for the Ottomans. Stroll the courtyard, admire the mosaics, stand in the Main Hall before exiting the Old City through the Liberty Gate.
Continue your walking tour exploring the New Town of Rhodes with its bustling Market Place, Mandraki Harbor and The Church of the Annunciation. While in town, drop into the old cinema of Saint George, opened in 1927 by the Italians as the city's first cinema.

We signed up for Best of Lindos and Rhodes and when we met the tour leader that morning we were informed that we would not be going to Lindos due to a driver strike. We could do just Rhodes and receive half our money back. The walking tour of Rhodes was fantastic. Getting our money back took a number of emails and a couple of weeks. Recommend the walking tour.
