Sintra Half-Day Tour

Dotted by royal retreats, estates, castles, and buildings from the 8th to the 9th century, this charming region is the site of the royal family's summer residence.

Departing from Lisbon, you will travel to the mountainous location of Sintra, approximately 15 miles north of Lisbon. Upon arrival, you will visit the National Palace of Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The palace is perhaps the best-preserved Royal Palace in Portugal, due to its being inhabited almost continuously from the early 15th to the late 19th century.

You will have a guided tour followed by free time to explore the handicraft stores or the famous sweets of Sintra.

Departing Sintra, you will take a different route, going west to Cabo da Roca (the most westerly point of Europe) before continuing along the coast, past the famous Guincho beach on the way to Cascais. Driving through the town, you will be able to see the Boca do Inferno wave feature and the magnificent panorama over the Bay of Cascais and the adjoining coastline. On your return to Lisbon, you'll pass by Estoril, home to the famous Casino.

Sintra Palace was unique
January 18, 2019
We took this trip just to get to the quaint hilltop village of Sintra and see the National Palace. Our guide was very good at showing us the unique points about this very different building and area. Her pace was perfect. She also adjusted the timing and stops on the way back to suit the four of us on this tour. As the weather was bad, she accomodated us very well and we returned in good time.

The castle was so well restored and kept up. We loved the uniqueness of it. The bus operator and the tour guide were both informative and friendly. It was a wonderful experience. One of the best tours we had on this trip!

The coach was comfortable & spotless, the driver very good. Our guide was very personable & knowledgeable. Beautiful town. We are glad we chose this excursion from the many other choices. Only wish is that we would have had a bit longer free time to experience the many cafes & shops in the town.
