Once your guide escorts you to the Dutch Island capital of Philipsburg, you'll reach Great Bay Beach and begin to hear the festive sounds of Reggae music. A lounge chair and drink tickets for either 2 beers, 2 mixed drinks, 2 sodas or 2 sodas are provided to aid your listening pleasure. Relax on the sand, swim the warm blue waters, or take a stroll on the festive boardwalk; after you check in, you can come and go as you please. In fact, incredible shopping is available around the corner on both Front and Back street, with restrooms in easy reach.
Reserve this festive St. Maarten excursion for an incredible afternoon at the beach.
First note, we were in the off season (July). We were able to quickly find our tour bus, was taken to a dive shop where we were given 4 tickets for drinks and then walked to our beach. When we arrived at our spot, we were the ONLY ones on the beach! They didn't have any raggae music playing, but that was fine with us as it made a nice relaxing day at the beach! We did have a couple of local vendors try and sell us stuff why we lounged on the beach, but they were polite, took no as an answer and went about their way. Wife and I had a wonderful day relaxing and playing in the water. For drinks, they had small glasses of rum punch (which Im pretty sure had little to no rum actually in it) but, it was refreshing and then they had Coors. Having the beach to ourselves was so nice, the staff there were very nice and helpful. Would definitely recommend!
We had a blast. Plenty to do and the staff were helpful.

There were plenty of things for everyone to do. They had covered lounge chairs for us to lay on and stand up paddle boards and kayaks for everyone to use. You could also get Jet Skis for an additional fee. The staff were very helpful and food and drinks were available.

Everything was fine except for the local villagers trying to sell you things. Would recommend doing this strictly for the beauty of the beach itself.
The beach was great. Be careful, the water gets deep QUICK! Free drinks were great, the waitresses from the local restaurant come right to your beach chair. The reggae is a low volume recording. And you'll get bugged ALOT by vendors, massagers & hair braiders. There are some local dogs who love to play and get petted.
