Glacier Adventure by Air, Water, and Ice

This tour offers the unique opportunity to explore wild and remote Alaska by helicopter, airboat, and foot. The adventure begins with a van shuttle from your cruise ship dock, or other pick-up location, to our seaside base on Douglas Island. You will be outfitted with glacier overboots and a floatation device before receiving a pre-flight safety briefing and loading into one of our A-star helicopters. Your pilot will choose one of many scenic routes to fly you to Taku Point, providing stunning views of the Tongass National Forest and Juneau Icefield along the way. You might even get lucky enough to spot wildlife or a calving glacier!

Upon landing at Taku Point, you will be greeted by our friendly staff and provided with floatation jackets, hearing protection, and an airboat safety briefing. This is an ideal location for photos and asking questions before boarding the airboat.

The boat is covered, with open sides for the best possible views and photo opportunities. During your 60-minute airboat adventure on the river, experience up-close views of the Taku Glacier as you cruise its 5-mile terminus. While gazing from the river, the immense size of the glacier becomes evident as you zoom by within arm's-reach of the ice. The Airboat captain will stop the boat in various locations for photos, and to provide informative narration about the glacier and the river basin that it has carved over the years.

Once back at Taku Point, you'll rejoin your pilot who will fly you up to the Juneau Icefield for your guided glacier walk. You will have at least 10 minutes on the ice for photo opportunities and to take in some of its majestic features.

The helicopter will return you to our base and a comfortable shuttle will provide return transportation to your pick-up location.

Please Note: Guests weighing more than 250 pounds fully-clothed must pay an additional fee for a comfortable seat in the helicopter.

Fabulous!

Unbelievable from start to finish!! If this is a bucket list trip for you and you plan on doing it right- enough said! It’s worth the money!! These guys run a top notch - professional operation from start to finish. The only thing they could improve on are the meeting directions. The spot is listed on the pavement, but there are similar letters on sign posts and it gets very confusing! We asked another local operator and went to the correct spot. Other people in our group didn’t ask and we had to pick them back up at the cruise ship where there was a similar spot. I believe it was “B” but I’m not sure. Ask someone when you get there or look at the parking lot letters!

The people were great. The flight was beautiful, going over the mountain tops. Well worth the expense! Remember to bring Tip $$, for they were all worthy of one. Also, we left a pair of gloves there and they shipped them to our home. So nice!
