Taormina and Isola Bella

Located 52km away from Messina on the east side coast of Sicily lies Taormina, a commune that has been popular with tourists since the 19th century. Start your journey in Taormina with spectacular views of the Bay of Giardini-Naxos and the majestic Mount Etna, at 3,330 meters the highest active volcano in Europe.

A walk along the Corso Umberto (the ancient Roman street Valeria) rewards you with exclusive boutiques and famous bars. History buffs will enjoy the ancient churches, monuments and the 3rd century Greek-Roman theatre. Be sure to stop at one of the pastry and ice cream shops to get a taste of typical Sicilian speciality and sweets.

Continue your tour with a scenic 2-hour boat ride to Isola Bella, a private property-turned-nature reserve just off Sicily's coast. Grab stunning photos of the coastline and its treasures such as the Baia di Naxos Hotel, Capo Taormina, Grotta Azzurra (Blue Grotto) and Baia di Mazzaro Beach. At the Blue Grotto, you will have the option to take a refreshing swim. During your tour you will be treated to a fresh fruit tasting.

At the end of the tour, there will be a short visit to the historical center of the city upon your return; see the Church of the Catalans, stand and admire the world's largest astronomical clock and enjoy breathtaking views of the Strait of Messina while at the panoramic terrace between the Shrine of Christ the King and the Sanctuary of Montalto.

Reserve this small group tour now and you will quickly discover the charm and irresistibility of Taormina and Isola Bella.

Very good tour
July 21, 2019
Our tour guides were waiting for us right off the ship with a sign with my last name on it. Then we went to Taormina - leaving the port right on time (12:30pm). it’s a 50 minute drive to Taormina. (Small bus with free WiFi, water and an Italian pastry.) We had free time in Taormina until 3:30pm. This was perfect amount of time for us. We walked around Taormina (beautiful) and had lunch at Pizzeria Taormina. 4pm we are on the boat and enjoyed some beautiful sites around isola Bella. There are 3 grottos, but we only went inside the Blue Grotto. Wish there was an excursion that would explore grottos more. We were also given an opportunity to swim. The water was beautiful (you can see the bottom). So bring swimsuit and towel! The boat is a small boat - and water was choppy. (We felt fine.) When we came back on the boat to swim, they had amaretto, watermelon and pineapple waiting for us. All in all a great tour.
