Tequila Factory and Villages

During this exciting 6-hour tour of the Mazatlan countryside, you will step back in time as you observe the old ways in both lifestyle and work.

Your journey of discovery begins as you travel north of Mazatlan to La Noria, a Colonial mountain village. This former mining outpost is now known for its beautiful traditional handicrafts. Watch as artisans fashion leather goods, small coconut purses and more products by hand.

Nearby is the charming village of La Vinata where you can take a special tour of Sinaloa's oldest tequila factory. Learn how agave is harvested and observe how tequila is made both the modern way and with machinery used since the 1800s. Don't leave without enjoying a sample or two of tequila!

Continue to the village of Puerta de Canoa, where you will visit a candy shop that makes typical local Mexican candy and a horse farm that is known to be one of the best for training horses in Mexico. You will meet the horse trainer and take pictures with the horses, and then you will be treated to a small show featuring the "dancing" horses.

Next you will return to Mazatlan, where you will enjoy a delicious lunch at a favorite local restaurant. Before returning to the ship, you will visit Old Mazatlan to see the downtown Cathedral and the lookout point, which provides amazing views of the city, the lighthouse and the cruise ships below.

If you love history and culture you won't want to miss out on all this tour has to offer, book now!

This was our favorite of the excursions we took this trip. Our guide was knowledgable, and personable. He pointed out many places along the way and really personalized the tour for us. Highly recommend.

Well Worth It Overall

I expected a little more at the dancing horses. More of a short demo. The place is very run down, it's just the area, but they do their job well. Tequila Factory was a good tour. The issue here was the many bees that hang around the tasting area and want a taste of the sweet stuff. Excellent tequila. Next stop was lunch, delicious, plentiful, and the owner very gracious. Always fun to see the food being made. Nice trip back through the city. Ending with the viewpoint, beautiful, but there were no cliff divers diving. Our driver was Humberto. Great guy.

Had a great time.

I got to tour an authentic small town with small businesses (saddle shop, candy factory) and eat an excellent open air Mexican restaurant. I learned about the tequila process from start to finish with samples at the end. My guide was knowledgeable and gave an excellent tour of Mazatlan and the countryside. I feel this was a good value and would do it again.

Benjamin was our tour guide. He was knowledgeable, friendly, personable and entertaining. The tour van was comfortable and cool. This is the perfect tour for anyone who wants to see a different side of Mexico and get a feel of how rural folk live. We really enjoyed this tour. Thanks Benji for making our Mexico vacation a memorable one.

Excellent side trip!

We had a blast!! Touring the small towns and shops was exactly what we were looking for. We went into the heart of the region and experienced the small town feel. We always felt safe and welcomed. The tequila factory was amazing. We had to buy some - it was amazing! They walked us through the entire facility and taught everyone the process. I brew beer, so it was extra interesting to me to see the difference. I would definitely recommend this trip!

Friendly, personal tour

We very much enjoyed this tour. Originally we were supposed to go to the Tequila Tasting in the morning and have lunch after, but we all were hungry and asked if we could reverse the order and eat breakfast instead of lunch... the tour guide said, "sure!" Really, this is the way it SHOULD be done! We went to El Quelite for the meal, a really cute little town. The restaurant was excellent and very pretty. (I had the goat stew: flavorful!) We went to a small horse training property and watched the horses dance. The Los Osuna Tequila Factory tour was very interesting and enjoyable. Two shots of tequila were provided for each guest. Our tour guide was the best! Some of our tour companions spoke only Spanish and he had no problem describing the sites in both English and Spanish and translating everything for the English speakers.
