Traditional Milonga Tango Experience, Museum, and Lunch

Within these iconic ballrooms at the very heart of Argentine cultural life, you will not only acquaint yourself with the basic Tango steps under the guidance of skilled dancers but also delve deeper into this rich culture. A splendid afternoon at a milonga will truly transform you into a seasoned "milonguero."

We rendezvous at the entrance of the Carlos Gardel Museum, the residence where the iconic Carlos Gardel once lived with his mother. Renowned as a singer, songwriter, composer, and actor, Gardel remains a pivotal figure in tango history.

The house, once a bustling "tanguerĂa" in the 1960s, has been meticulously restored. Today, it stands as a beacon of cultural heritage, showcasing the singer's life and work. The restoration includes the recovery of preserved artifacts from the kitchen and bathroom, including a historical faucet.

The museum invites exploration through a diverse array of objects like photographs, magazines, newspapers, musical instruments, records, and furniture, providing insight into various stages of Gardel's life. In the courtyard, a table from Café de los Angelitos, a bar he frequented, awaits your discovery.

Next up is Las Violetas, a bar steeped in over a century of Buenos Aires history. Designated a Historic Place of the City in 1998 by the Buenos Aires Legislature, this establishment has hosted presidents, renowned artists, and writers. Noteworthy features like stained-glass windows, curved glass doors, French stained-glass windows, and Italian marble floors contribute to its distinction as one of the city's most beautiful bars. Here, we will indulge in a delectable and comprehensive afternoon snack.

Following our break, a brief stroll leads us to La Catedral Club. Here, an exhilarating hour-long tango lesson awaits. The milongas, including La Catedral Club, are quintessentially Argentine cultural hubs where locals (portenos) converge to revel in the unique experience of dancing Milongas and Tango. Prepare to immerse yourself in the art of dance, learning captivating steps from seasoned performers. Seize the opportunity to embrace an unforgettable and authentically "portena" night!
