Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel with Return Transfer

Your day-long journey begins as you board the comfortable bus in Civitavecchia for an easy ride to Rome city center. You will arrive near Castel Sant'Angelo. Your guide will be at the stop waiting for you as you get off the shuttle bus and holding a sign with your name. After checking in with your guide you will start your one-hour walking tour of the Vatican area.

Enter the Vatican Museum. Once inside, you and your group will be guided through the many sections including the Raphael rooms and the Belvedere Courtyard. Soak in the beauty of the famous Sistine Chapel as you enter Saint Peter's Basilica using a back door reserved for private tours. Built over Saint Peter's tomb, the church took more than 120 years to build and is considered the world's most important Christian site. Take some time to explore this ancient basilica that includes Michelangelo's Pieta and Bernini's Baldachin as well as the chair of Saint Peter before returning to your transportation.

Make the most of your time at the Vatican Museum by skipping the long entrance lines with this guided tour.

The guided tour will finish at St Peter's Square after exiting the basilica. Afterwards, enjoy some free time on your own and as you wish for lunch and relaxation before your return. The shuttle stop is just behind the ancient Fortress, Castel Sant'Angelo where you arrived in the morning.

A return transfer back to the port of Civitavecchia will then have you to your ship at the end of the day before departure, approximately 5:30PM.

Book now for an unforgettable day in Rome and Vatican City.

Please Note: Unfortunately, due to Covid, the passage to the Basilica is closed because it is extremely narrow. In case you would like to visit the Basilica, you would need to go on your own.

Sistine Awe

Everyone should see the vast wealth of the Vatican and its piece de resistance, the Sistine Chapel. The skip the line was invaluable! I've taken the tour twice now. The guide Paulo was good but not great. We waited around for half an hour when the tour started for no apparent reason in a non-descript square. Why not in the square in front of St Peter's Basilica only a few blocks away? Similarly, we had free time at the end, but Paulo did not use it to give us insightful stories or details of St Peter's. The meeting stop for our bus was also strangely located. I would recommend this tour, but hopefully you can get a more inspired guide! Visiting the Vatican and Sistine is a bucket list must!

Great tour!

The tour ended up being amazing. We covered a ton of ground in a short amount of time. Our guide did a wonderful job navigating all of the twists and turns of the tour. Afterwards I was looking through my photos and realized how amazing the tour was. The Sistine Chapel was the reason I chose this tour and it was truly unforgettable. My only suggestion is to try improve the transfer and expectations for the tour. Many of the people in my group were concerned about not finding the bus back as soon as they realized we wouldn't have a guide taking us to the bus stop. A few people were complaining about the lack of restrooms/water/breaks once the tour begins. It really is a long day if you consider the start point of the ship so a more detailed overview would have been helpful. We didn't stop until 3 PM and I would have packed a water and worn better shoes if I realized how much ground we were going to cover in such a short period of time. Overall it was a great tour!

Logistics to get from ship to Vatican museum were fairly complicated as was the return trip (shuttle, then bus, then walking and repeat in reverse order). Besides that challenge, the guide and tour were very good. So worth the price to NOT wait in long lines (and in our case - on a rainy day). The area is extraordinarily crowded with tourists and the guide whisked us through the throngs all the while sharing details on the buildings, the art, the history.

GREAT TOUR.

Man they didn't tell us we'd have to walk ALL OVER ROME to get to the Vatican. The Vatican itself and our tour guide was excellent! But we walked a good 2-3 miles after the tour only to get to the bus and get involved in a scuffle over the number of seats available on the bus back to the port. Still, 4 stars for this tour!

The tour guide was very prompt in meeting the bus from the ship, walked us to the Vatican & met up with the others for the tour. He was very knowledgeable about all aspects of the museum & cathedral. Also very person able. He said with us at the end of the tour & walked us back to the bus stop to return to the ship. I would recommend this tour as there is no waiting in line.
