Volcano & Highlights of Hilo Adventure
Visit both Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and the city of Hilo on this small group guided tour, seeing Kilauea Caldera and the formations along the Chain of Crater's Road. Thereafter, you'll visit a local chocolate factory for samples and coffee tasting before seeing the spectacular Rainbow Falls and a black sand beach.
Explore volcanic formations of the world renowned Kilauea volcano on a guided journey to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Experience volcanic steam vents while taking in extraordinary views of Kilauea caldera where molten lava can often be seen spattering on the crater floor. Hike along the crater rim, through a lush rainforest and traverse an ancient lava tube. You'll then view other volcanic formations along Chain of Crater's Road and witness the raw power of the volcano and the beauty and destruction that it leaves behind.
Thereafter you'll take a scenic drive through downtown Hilo and stop at a chocolate factory to sample locally grown coffee and Big Island treats. Then, continue on to Rainbow Falls, one of Hilo's most famous waterfalls.
Conclude the day with a trip down the gorgeous Keaukaha coastline. Along the way, visit a beautiful black sand beach, home to Hawaiian green sea turtles. Book this tour to a true treasure of the Hawaiian islands!
Please Note: Lunch options include ham, turkey, pastrami or veggie sandwiches. Please provide your meal preference above. Please be assured that both Hilo and Kona remain largely unaffected by the current eruption of Kilauea volcano and that it is still safe to travel to the Big Island of Hawaii (Hawaii Island). The Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is currently closed, however, this tour will continue to operate with a modified itinerary until the park has reopened. The modified itinerary includes: Saddle Mountain road, view Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa, optional hike, explore the ancient Kaumana lava tube, stops at Pe'epe'e Falls and Rainbow Falls, break at Big island Candies chocolate factory for chocolate tasting and coffee sampling, and a trip to Keaukaha coastline.

What a wonderful day! Jill, our guide, was a local who knew the Hilo area very well. She was kind and provided us with a wonderful experience. She was able to pack in a lot, but we never felt rushed. There were only 4 people in our group so we got a lot of individual attention from her. It would be hard to pick the highlights because it was all so good. Seeing Rainbow Falls, walking near the volcano, maybe the chocolate factory, or just hearing the guides story's of what it was like growing up on the island, if I had to choose, would have been my favorites. I would definitely recommend this excursion!

Josh, the owner of the company, was our guide. He was born and raised in Hawaii and was very knowledgeable and personable. He took us to the Volcanoes National Park for a great tour away from the bus loads of people on other tours. We walked on the lava flows and walked through a lava tube. He even stopped for us to take pictures of some nenes crossing the road. After leaving the park, he took us to a quiet, inside picnic lunch at an Orchid Farm and out of the rain. After lunch, we toured the area and learned a lot about the past and present of Hawaii. Rainbow Falls was beautiful as were the turtles and rocks at the black sand beach. We even saw a whale!
