Recommended Dress We recommend wearing comfortable light clothing. We also recommend a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen for hot sunny weather at the coast and a jacket for possible rain and cool weather at the Volcano. Please note, closed-toe shoes are required.

Volcano & Highlights of Hilo Adventures

Visit both Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and the city of Hilo on this small group guided tour, seeing the active Kilauea Caldera and exploring the volcanic formations along the Chain of Crater's Road including Thurston Lava Tube. Thereafter, you'll immerse your senses in the beauty of Hilo including Liliuokalani Gardens, visit a local chocolate factory for samples and coffee tasting before seeing the spectacular Rainbow Falls.

Explore volcanic formations of the world renowned Kilauea volcano on a guided journey to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Experience volcanic steam vents while taking in extraordinary views of Kilauea caldera where the summit caldera has grown in size and drastically changed the landscape. Enjoy a morning walk in the cool mist of the rain forest to explore an ancient lava tube. You'll then view other volcanic formations along Chain of Crater's Road and perhaps even witness the raw power of an active eruption.

Thereafter you'll take a scenic drive through what to see in Hilo, heading downtown to a chocolate factory to sample locally grown coffee and Big Island treats. Then, continue on to Rainbow Falls, one of Hilo's most famous waterfalls.

Conclude the day with a stop at Liliuokalani Gardens for views of Hilo Bay and the expansive island landscape. As time permits, stroll around the tranquil Japanese gardens featuring pathways winding through fishponds and across bridges lined with pagodas and rock gardens. Fun excursion

We had a great time on this excursion particularly because it was a small group, and our leader was a born and raised local. He was great! Lots of great information.

Prompt and informative, our guide not only showed us all the sites promised, but had so much to add about the people, the spirit of Aloha as well. The highlight, of course, was the bubbling crater of Kilauea - mesmerizing with the naked eye, but intensely so seen through the magnifying equipment the guide brought along. Rainbow Falls, the Park, the lava field, Destruction Road, the chocolate factory - all fantastic!

Excellent tour - met all our expectations

I received two text messages before arriving in port as a reminder of our tour, along with more detailed information on where to meet. Josh and his wife are the owners and tour guides using two separate vehicles. Josh was our guide and he was informative, fun to listen to, and very professional. He brought along a tripod with binoculars to help us see more details inside the crater - even finding some spewing lava! There were 8 people in the vehicle and we were very comfortable - so much better than a huge bus plus we got to see more than just steam vents at the volcano - we walked a mile into the crater to a better viewing area plus we also walked through a lava tube and on an old lava bed. I would definitely recommend this tour.

All I can say is WOW! Josh was such an incredible, funny, and and entertaining your guide. He supplied us with unforgettable memories and so much knowledge about Hilo. It was probably one of the best tours my husband and I took during our time.

Fantastic And Action Packed Day!

I highly recommend this excursion. Our guide was a native who enjoyed sharing his experiences and knowledge about Volcanoes National Park and the Hilo área. He packed way more into this day than any of the cruise ship excursions ever would. After touring the park including several trails among the lava fields and sulfur cliffs, and the promised stops at Rainbow Falls and the chocolate factory, we got to experience a lava tube and a walk on a black sand beach. Fantastic day!

Volcano & Hilo

Jill was an excellent tour guide. Her knowledge and family history of the area kept it very interesting. We saw sights that you only imagine.
