Best of Belize!
January 30, 2020
I can't speak highly enough of Jeff our tour guide! He was a history teacher, professional race driver and personal trainer in one! Plan on 4+ hours of car time. Timing tight, but works. Plan on real, covered water shoes or tennis shoes. No flip flops allowed. Bug spray & Go Pro/ waterproof phones only! You will walk across 2-3 rivers to start. I'm 5'3''-was on tippy toes to reach river bed at some parts. ( rivers were up due to heavy rain) We had a longer float and more of the caves than others from the cruise ship guided tours. We had local tamales for lunch and headed to Xunantunich. Use the bathroom before you leave, no stopping on drives! It was another hour & 1/2 to get there, so not too much time to explore once we arrived. But enough to climb to top, get lots of photos and learn about the history of the Mayans from Jeff. It was the most amazing day and we left in awe of the beauty of this unique part of the world!
