Yukon Suspension Bridge by Jeep
Yukon Suspension Bridge by Jeep
Have you ever thought of driving a Jeep up the White Pass trail on the Klondike Highway or discovering the Yukon Suspension Bridge? Well, this is the perfect opportunity for you. Experience the beauty and rugged nature of the Yukon Territory in a Jeep Wrangler while taking in the majestic scenery and exploring the unique terrain of beautiful Skagway, Alaska.
The world-famous White Pass trail is a United States National Historic Landmark from the Gold Rush time of 1897-99. The road runs parallel to the narrow-gauge railroad across the valley, making for the perfect opportunity to capture amazing photos. Your local, knowledgeable guide will make sure to bring to life the Gold Rush history throughout the tour.
As with all tours on the Klondike Highway, there is always a great chance for viewing wildlife including bears, moose, eagles, and other animals that make Alaska so special. Make sure you have your camera ready to photograph these incredible animals in their natural habitat.
Your next stop is Pitchfork Falls. This incredible waterfall is considered the second largest waterfall in Southeast Alaska, dropping nearly 2,000 feet (600 meters) to the valley below. Once there you will have the opportunity to visit Tormented Valley, also part of the Gold Rush trail and known for its unique rocky, moon-like landscape. On the edge of the alpine line, the trees and plants are permanently growth stunted. This special landscape has been featured in many movies including "The Big White," featuring Robin Williams, and Disney's "Never Cry, Wolf," making it a picture-perfect moment.
As you continue your drive you will arrive at the famous Yukon Suspension Bridge where you can walk 65 feet above raging rapids. Here you will find food and beverages available for purchase to refuel you for the remainder of the tour. Leaving the Suspension Bridge you will travel to and stop for a picture at the famous "Welcome to Alaska" sign. Once done, you will next make your way to the Skagway City Overlook. The overlook has a spectacular view of the town and cruise ships from a distance.
As your tour comes to an end, we are sure you will leave Skagway with lasting memories of her beauty and history.

My niece and I just took this tour last week. We really enjoyed it. The jeeps were basically brand new and in great condition. The guide was personable and knowledgeable about the area. The drive up to the Yukon was full of jaw dropping scenery and great photo opportunities. The suspension bridge and the area around it was beautiful (and they had nice clean bathrooms!). The tour guide kept in touch with us via radios in the jeeps and shared information on places and things that we passed by. I much preferred driving my own vehicle and following the tour guide over riding in a bus or van with large groups of people. All in all it was an awesome day!
